I was right, you were wrong

Hello Commanders,

Wanted to jump in here and say that Fleet Carriers are not cancelled, and while we cannot give you more details on them at this time, they are still planned in our development roadmap. We do understand that waiting without much information can be frustrating, so as soon as we can give you more info, we will.
Re-quoting for those that missed it :)

It's almost June 2019 and still no indication of fleet carriers. Evidently they were not delayed but cancelled. FDev did nothing to clarify this, again opting to mislead the player base in order to generate revenue.
The problem with being opinionated is that you can make yourself look pretty stupid with pubicly stated opinions based on little or no facts, especially when making statements such as the above where you accuse a company of doing something unethical, motivated purely by greed. Embarrassing or what? 😆

Hey so they just did something to clarify it. Please amend the thread title
this thread didn't aged well

We'll see. This isn't the first time they announced fleet carriers. As I have already mentioned in this thread, I'm more happy to be proven wrong than right. My concern is it will be a poor version of what was originally hoped.

If, come December, carriers are delivered PROPERLY (ie not a half baked equivalent just to say they did it), I'll admit I was incorrect. Until then, the thread title remains unchanged.

I wonder if this thread, as rambling as it is, had enough "space forum legs" to give us an earlier carriers reveal!

I sure hope this doesn't push back the 2020 release!

Hmm, maybe you should define what you hope Carriers will be. All they've floated to date is this stuff:

  • "A mobile base of operations for Squadrons where its members can refuel, rearm, and respawn."
Source: Expo 2017 Livestream [1]

  • "So the fleet carrier is going to be a very large ship, which members of the Squadron will be able to dock with."
  • "If enough of a certain resources is available the ship will be able to move."
  • "That's not on the weekly tick, it's whenever you have the resources to do it."
  • "There will be various other things you can upgrade on it, and things to go with that."
  • "People [not in the Squadron] will be able to visit your Squadron's fleet carrier, but they will not get permission to dock"
  • "They can see it, so that if we do manage to get any customisation options in and stuff other people can see what you've done. And if we do get visual representation of upgrades, for example, they can see what you've upgraded"

If your expectations go beyond that you might end up being right about being wrong again ;)

You have already been proven wrong I am afraid. It seems you are now just simply doubling down by moving the goal posts. "They have not cancelled it but they still can, and even if they dont it may actually be bad".

Be my guest. I guess that if we really put our mind into it we could also probably even criticize and dismiss Flemming for discovering penicillin or deny the moon landings for example ;) .

This is what you said:
Evidently they were not delayed but cancelled.
You didn't say they will be delayed. You didn't say they will be bad. You said they are evidently cancelled. Evidently you are wrong.
This would've been the perfect opportunity to say something along the lines of 'Sorry folks, looks like I made some silly and ridiculous claims'.
