General / Off-Topic Ice bucket challenge

I have been nominated, I have donated but I was unable to act within 24hr or 48hrs or whatever the timescale was.

I am planning something....

I donate to several charities, and I ignore all the on the internet how this charity and that charity uses it's funds. It's all crap.

People can do their own research instead of finding some article written by someone who is trying to get their name recognized.

Mine was a nod to Patrick Stewart's, except I tossed the two cubes of ice behind me (the dogs ran to chew them up), and pulled a beer out of the bucket. That was after writing the check, of course.

I'm a member of the Kiwanis, which focuses on helping the children. Our club raises money to fund a Kid's fishing tournament, Special Olympics, and seven (7) US$1,000 college scholarships. None of the money goes for nefarious purposes, and we don't get paid... and I should know, because I'm the treasurer.

I also donate to the local Sheriff's Association, Alzheimer's (my dad died from complications from that), Red Cross, and Cancer research.

I wonder how many of the ice bucket people are aware that the ALS Association uses their donations to carry out experiments involving both animal testing and embryonic stem cells. They may not care about the latter, but those kind of people tend to be opposed to animal testing. That being said, I'm generally fine with both when it's required for essential scientific research.

The more reason not to do this kind of game
