General / Off-Topic Ice bucket challenge

Call me a grumpy guy, whatever - I'm just minding my own business (geek style - work hard, play Elite Dangerous) but i've been interrupted all week with this Ice bucket challenge garbage. Don't get me wrong, I like a deserving cause but please!!!!!! Can we just end it now. I'd rather pay the cause a fiver just not to do it.

Computers and buckets of iced water and giggling morons don't mix. it affects framerates and stuff. Anyway, if somebody does do it from here wearing a DK2 and all, it would be of interest. :)

Let us simulate space and have a vacuum challenge.

At least you won't be able to hear who is supposedly nominated as the next victim (participant). The challenger both should be unable to breathe and if there is no air or other gas sound waves shouldn't be able to travel?

Well I wouldn't nominate anyone - It's poor taste, we're not sheep here. I wouldn't dare do it, i wouldn't dare nominate anyone either - Could you imagine how hacked off everyone would be if some moron decided the developers should start doing it? or question why they (like us) aren't sheep, following the masses?

I'm glad it's not been mentioned. [edit- "cough" was just added]

If someone nominates me, I will get the tub that restaurants put bottles of champagne in to keep cool, you know, they are called ice buckets and put that on my head (an empty one of course ) :)

I have a strong aversion to anything that's based on emulating Hollywood celebrities. That's a part of our culture which I could definitely do without. If I want to donate money to something, I'll do so without any fuss. In any case the moral aspect of donating money is cheapened when you publicize it in order to gain popularity.

In order words: Leave the decadent and celebrity-obsessed culture of the Federation behind, and support the Empire in building a stronger and healthier world order (or rather galactic order). ;)

Well I did it my way, and I felt strongly enough about answering the challenges of my friends.

However I couldn't ignore charities that I feel for, so I picked 6 Charities to benefit from my 'Bath'.

So anyway have a look if you want, donate to any charity at all in the world that means something to you, or have a look at my suggestions.

The point is not to soak yourself, or make a public soap box, just take a minute and think... has any charity touched my life positively... can I support them some way.

That's all I'd like you to do..
