Icourier wow just wow

Bought it, love it, but it's ruined my bank account, in back to back rebuys it's cost me 1600k as it has tissue paper for a hull, just did a few missions to collect transmission stuff and got bounced too many times and puff back to the rebuy screen. I got it set up for max shield and a scb but still it looks like a trip to tart up the shields at a enginseer is needed. Also I was silly I out a pa on it never used one , oh mama fun if I can hit with it mind you

Fixed central beam and two PAs is so much fun. Pick your targets though, and it gets very hot.
I haven't had a chance to get on today, but I'll be trying a three rail setup when I do

Scbs are pointless on the courier. Largest it can fit is a class 3a and they restore like 90MJ of shield and mean you have to carry a heat sink else you cook your ship. Not worth it imo

I'm thinking about getting one too. I just need the ascension mission and I will have the rank. If it's anything like my FDL then put efficient weapon on the PA's. Even just level 1 and the heat issues will go away. I run 3 x PA on my FDL. Without engineers I'd get heat damage every time I fired the thing.....used it anyways cause it was fun, now with level 2 efficient weapon I can fire it all day. The only drawback is that it lowers the already pathetic fire rate so you will have to wait an extra second between shots.

I flew a Courier for a long, long time. I went fixed burst lasers on the wings at first, the gap is a little annoying but only when shooting at another small ship at range. You eventually learn how to angle yourself and at what range to reliably hit the target every time. But that got annoying. So I went with a fixed beam under the nose (highly recommended, no matter what ya put on the nacelles) and then modded seeker missiles on the wings. Modded to have a higher magazine capacity which helps out SOOOOOO much.

I suddenly found my ship being an absolute terror. That little Courier would vaporize smaller ships like it was nothing. And larger ships' modules fell in groups, leading to an easy kill.

I managed to have over 600mj shields on my Courier with one heavy duty a-rated booster and another thermal resist shield raters booster. Then the shields themselves modded to be strengthened. Also, since if your shields drop you are dead anyway, GO LIGHTWEIGHT MODS ON NEARLY EVERYTHING ELSE. Your shields and your speed/maneuverability will keep you alive. If your shields go down in a Courier you are doing something wrong! I managed to have my fully loaded and beefed out courier with heavy armaments and super strong shields and dirty tuned engines to be just barely above 90t even when loaded with fuel and ammo. And I learned to fight with less than half a tank of fuel on purpose just to save another 4-5 tons.

Trust me.

Well three railguns is a bust. I overheat immediately on firing and if I fire again I get so hot that modules start to malfunction. That's a pity, it's taken me all night to get home, get in the ship, fit it out for combat and fly it to the CG >=o(

I'm not surprised to hear that. I have trouble keeping it cool enough to refuel.

I parked mine after an incident with a python.

My shields went down just before we made contact, a light scrape, and I blew up.

Very interesting configuration you have. Can you share it in details with us please.

I have a iCourrier and must say i instantly love to fly it. Love the F15 Eagle style canopy for the panoramic view (i used to fly a Cutter so it's very different).

Must restart all my configuration because i made it too heavy and it's a pretty bad idea i guess : it have to be fast !

Yeah, the Courier is a fighter, not a slugger. Having it be light and maneuverable and fast while letting your huge shield tank soak up the hits when someone manages to get fire on you is the best.

I sold my Courier, though, sadly. but I got most of it memorized. Not all, though. Here is what I can remember

Hardpoints:
1 medium beam laser (fixed, on the nose, lightweight mount mod)
2 medium seeker missile launchers (on the wings, larger magazine mod, no experimental)

Utilities:
2 A-rated shield boosters along the spine (1 heavy duty mod, other thermal resist mod)
1 chaff launcher and 1 ECM (on the wings, for aesthetics)

Core Internals:
A rated Powerplant (Increased power mod, with only one laser heat isn't a huge issue)
A rated Thrusters (dirty tuned)
A rated Distributor (charge balanced)
D rated life support and sensors
A rated FSD (increased jump range)

Optional Internals:
3A shields (shield strengthening mod)
3D fuel scoop

uhhh, I forget the rest of the optionals. I kept a lot of the slots EMPTY though, because I didn't need them and it saved a ton of weight and power allotment. do NOT use hull reinforcement. It won't add enough to make a difference, and if it does, all it will do is weigh you down and make you easier to hit and make it harder for you to escape a fight that has gone bad. Speed was my tank. I could boost up past 540 something and my normal speed was nearly 400. And with all the weight saving and dirty tuned thrusters I could out turn my A-rated vulture (which wasn't modded). And those dual missile launchers were seriously mean, providing the other ship has no countermeasures. Again I designed mine to mainly fight other small ships. And in that regard it was a beast. I mean it really outperformed nearly every other small ship out there. Against larger ships, their countermeasures will whittle your missiles down. But when I was able to land hits (I always selected their drives on the sub-targets menu) 2 or 3 volleys would destroy their engines, allowing you or a wingmate to pick them off.

I used my ship as, well, a fighter. In a wing which other people where in clippers or condas, my little Courier was a welcome addition and really balanced things out. And could easily hold its own.

Remember this rule. Module strength and hull strength do NOT matter in a Courier. Your shields and agility/speed DO. I never died in my Courier and never overheated (I'd get "heat critical" messages, but never damage) even with my choice of mods.

I just want to get one for racing or something like that I've heard of people boosting at 700 with it and it looks like it handles beautifully although that rank requirement depresses me (I'm still 50% outsider so... )

Would you recommend the light weight armour mods or just leave it be?

Adding armour is still adding weight, I wouldn't personally. More so than nearly any other ship, keeping her light is crucial in keeping her nimble, which is playing to her strengths whereas trying to bolster her weak hull gimps her too much in the process, not worth it.

Hence my remark to put the heavy duty mods on the lightweight bulkheads. they will not suffer from the increase in weight.
