I’d like more commanders in the Open

The hollow marker discussion was dead and buried a long time ago.

.... and to assume that players would not learn how to detect other players is naive at best.
Agreed. Literally the easiest thing in the world. Look at the ship name, lack of a minor faction name, squadron id. And then the comms panel lol

Then there's the subject of CQC/Arena. That feature goes to demonstrate what FD thought would be viable PvP, but it was rejected out of hand. Now that you can queue in game, lets hope it give the PvP crowd an outlet.

I doubt it. I suspect that more than a few commanders do pvp for that element of narrative, which the game conveniently offers. I’m a pirate, a bounty hunter, freedom fighter, maniac, power player, etc. There are larger constructs, within them we find our meanining for pvp interactions. CQC is pure alcohol. No narrative, Call of Duty in space. While there are some, who appreciate it around here, the majority, I’d argue, actually likes to live in eliteverse’.

Like acceptance of gankers behaviour, opinions vary on that topic too - one player's "poor design" may well be another players "favourite feature".

Powerplay: consciously implemented as a pan-modal feature.
And then consciously reflected upon as a poor decision.

Powerplay is fundamentally about consensual player versus player conflict. We think that pretty much all of the systems and rules would benefit from being played out in Open only, as it would dramatically increase the chance of meeting other pledged players and being able to directly affect the outcomes of power struggles.”

From the flash feedback thread. Here’s hoping for new era.

It is, as implemented, consensual - doubly so.

Players can choose whether, or not, to pledge. Once pledged players can decide which mode to participate in.

Remember, Sandro repeatedly stated that the Flash Topic was an investigation and not a fait accompli....

Hence my phrase of “here’s hoping for new era” and not “can’t wait to definitively see this in new era”

still the admission of the mistake is there. Whether they have the fortitude to fix it remains to be seen.

It’s been well established by people who have resorted to ganking that it is indeed boredom caused by lack of meaningful content.

It'll be interesting to see which of the proposals in the first Flash Topic are being considered, per Will's post on the topic.

It seems to relate to a behaviour that some PvPers resort to when they are bored or don't get their own way.
Okay. Now that we've established that, why do you keep turning down every suggestion to give them content to keep them busy? Every time a suggestion comes up you just repeat the same tired PR speech "this game is for everyone".

On another note, I have yet to see a single suggestion from those that are complaining about gankers. I alone have made multiple suggestions and have literally zero problem with gankers and open.
It seems like all you want to do is just complain about them in hopes that maybe one day Frontier will just ban them all.

Why reward what is, for some, considered to be poor behaviour (even if it is permitted by the game)?

i was around for this when it happened. The ganking served a single purpose for that event, show how broken a single thing is, and it worked. How does this counteract my point in anyway? They literally had no other content to do so they decided let’s use this broken thing to the max to get it properly nerfed.

It is an example of gankers doing what they do until they get their own way (and they didn't exactly stop once they'd achieved their aim)....

I am not surprised that this is what they established (yawn). In reality it is caused by lack of imagination. There are more than enough instruments inside the game to break barriers, come up with new and entertaining stuff. Isinona created amospheric films of him living in Elite. ThreeofNine pirated with dignity and flair, in sidewinders and such. People race, explore, participate in pvp tourneys, small and big. You either have the head and the heart to create your own storyline, or you don’t. Don’t hang this on FD - they gave us enough. Ganking all day as a lifestyle is a sign of intellectual poverty, not “boredom caused by lack of content”.
