Ideas about the new Sequencer

So apparently we are getting a new Sequencer in the Sequel. The old one in Planet Coaster 1 had its ups and downs. You could string multiple things together and have it be precise to the millisecond, but it became a bit confusing if you made something more involved.

I am hoping for the new Sequencer (if indeed this is not a Rumour) to be a bit more visual. So think of how a Video Editing Program is layed out. You have Layers of Tracks, for example Video Tracks, Music, other Audio, stuff like that. Wouldn't it be cool to have a Sequencer that gives you a timeline like a Video Editing Program where you can see at a glance when a certain Element gets triggered? I also want to go a bit further than that too: Wouldn't it be awesome to see the Audio Wave of a Music Track and Sound Effects too? This way it would be really easy to sync up Effects to it. You know, being able to Move the to be Triggered Elements around in the Timeline, and maybe for further control being able to put in a precise Time in addition to that would make this Tool indispensable in my Opinion :D

What do you Guys think? :D

The layout of a video editor would be great.

You said audio waves...
I would like to have that if there would be something similar visualizing fireworks. So when e.g. rockets get started, when they explode and for following glitter.

Whatever you try to sync up to music or some such, the waveform would be a great way to do it.

I agree, the sequencer could use some update. In essence I think the RCT3 version was pretty robust and visually pleasing.
If they bring back the RCT3 version with a few more tools / options for timing to the second I would be very happy :D

Definitely getting behind this, flat rides especially need an updated sequencer.
I'd love a new sequencer that's more intuitive so we don't have to get a pen and paper and a calculator to get everything to sync in time like we currently have to do in Planco.
It was either that or somehow get perfectly timed effects by sheer dumb luck (glances at Pharaoh's Fury) 🤣

(not before endless patience, mind you...)

I tried multiple times to set up a proper 24 real time minutes firework show in planet coaster. I can tell you it was pure pain. What came out of it was decent enough, but it was never perfectly synchronised and setting up every single light state for different light setups on my castle was sooo boring and took ages.

What I need is a combination of the old rct 3 mixmaster timeline and the group system from planet coaster. Also you should be able to set states for an entire group (on,off, play for x seconds, change colour). That way you can precisely set up groups of lights or fireworks at specific times in the visual timeline synchronised to music and copy them easily or change a state for an entire group of lights easily. I hope the new sequencer is good.😌

I liked RCT3 sequencer better than Planet Coasters. And for doing fireworks timed to music much easier to time music to it. Also it was fun to edit the firework shells in RCT3. I’m curious if in PC2 if we are going to be able to make our on stage shows with animatronics instead of pre determined shows like the pirate show in Planet Coaster?

Agreeing with all of this, but also noting that a good chunk of the problems with coordination in PC1 is how much of effects timing was tied to Frames-Per-Second, which of course fluctuates, making it impossible to create tightly timed shows. If this isn't fixed in PC2? Then sequencer improvements, no matter how welcome, won't really help much.

Me: "I've spent a good 45 minutes trying to sync these effects with my flat ride. Time to give it a test!"
Autosave: "I'm about to end this man's whole career."

Please bring this back:

Timing things will be so much easier with this.

100% agree, the RCT3 mixmaster was pretty solid. I would prefer this one anytime over the one we had in PlanCo. Bring this one back or at least have one in the same spirits.

I think my biggest gripe the Planco sequencer was that there was no visual cue for what was going on and that you had to calculate timings to get anything timed right.
The RCT3 one seemed more modern in that everything sat in a timeline that was immediately visual and you could see how all the elements were timed with each other.
It was more like a modern video editing programme.
I'd love Planco2 to go down this route, but with more functionality and with a modern interface.

Having some sort of visual Sequencer would help immensly, since you don't have to count the Seconds. Which can get out of hand really quickly. And please keep the Triggerpoints on Tracks as well.

I’ve also been thinking about the new Sequencer, and I’m pretty excited. It seems like it will be a real game-changer for anyone into filmmaking or editing. The way it simplifies some of the more complicated tasks could save a lot of time, especially for those of us who are not full-on experts yet.
