If FD brings in a new Engineer system, ALL current engineered modules MUST revert to stock

I thought they removed all the exploited mods from Cmdrs? What are these one shot weapons? Only one shot weapon I know off is a mix or reverb & deep cut payloads.. Still takes a salvo of 12 or more, low ammo storage, easy to evade in a fast ship.

Revert to stock? Obviously not going to happen for a number of reasons.

If we want a level playing field, we need to start from scratch. It's the only way to keep current "God" builds from becoming 1-shot killers.

That kind of stuff will never be done. You can't take away something a player has earned in game in a legit manner. (disclosure - I'm not a god roller, max G5 rolls I ever did for a single module was 6).

Fine by me , i look forward to the material refund, and time compensation , or being given the best of the newly available mods, maxed out of course, like the ones they will be replacing. Great times ahead for the Fuel Rats with the ensuing deep space rescue missions, if they can manage any sort of jump range for the foreseeable . Yet again another lovely FDEV idea with no practicable applicability, anyone remember Multi-Crew ?

Nah.

The majority of God Rolls are for FSD drives. And it is still unclear as to whether or not those will not be achievable using the new system. Based on some of Sandro's comments, the secondary effects are now baked into the system, so these might still be possible.

Again... Calm down. Take a deep breath. And actually wait until everyone has tried and tested the new system before losing your S over it.

All G(X) mods should be converted to fully upgraded G(X-1) mods when the update goes live.
e.g. G5 FSD converted to G4 FSD (ready to roll G5).
Problem solved. :p

or remove the engineers completely.

Which could leave people with unflyable ships if the Power Plant mods are lowered by a level.

It´s only a problem if the newly engineered modules do not top the old ones. Sandy talked about that yesterday, saying the new bluepints will be better.

The question that remains is: What will happen with secondaries, for example thermal load on long range rails? But hey, why not wait and see what happens tomorrow and give some feedback then before we all get lost in speculation threads.

I tend to agree with the OP.

FD are faced with the uncomfortable position of finally having to "do something" about engineers. No matter what they do, some people will be angry. However there is only one "right" course of action that has the greatest chance of long term success. Sandro seemed to be almost leaning on a crutch in the live stream when confronted with FD's decisions to allow players to keep God rolled modules - "they will only be better in rare cases". This is the worst of both worlds because not only does it mean that some undefined number of players will have objectively better equipment, it also means that the insane power creep we have seen from engineers shall continue with the new system.

FD should just kill engineers entirely or force everyone into this new system with some sort of "engineering credit" for existing modifications. If you are going to everyone off, for Christ's sake make sure your new solution isn't half baked.

Don't revert to stock. It's on punishing and unnecessary.

Just tone down or remove any secondary effect on a PvP relevant module that exceeds the maximum possible under the new system. No need to trash explorers FSDs or miner's armoured refineries

This is the way to do it. We need to make sure FD gets the message in the beta feedback.

Some people simply can't handle change in any regard whatsoever.

It doesn't matter if that change could very likely be for the better, they are not willing to even consider that as a possibility.

You could argue that this is a form of mental illness, and as such, there really isn't anything anyone can do that will ever satisfy this particular group.

This is already being heavily debated in the Focused Feedback subforum (25 pages worth at least). Come join the party ;)
