I just spent around 2 hours making a huge, custom aviary for both quetzalcoatlus and thanatosdrakon. Its pretty disappointing that they just flew right outside of it as if it isn't even there. It would be cool if we could actually make our own, functional custom aviaries as the prebuilt ones are a little limited in how much you can alter the surrounding terrain and ceiling of the aviary itself. I'm not too sure how complicated this would be to implement, but I would be really thankful if this feature was added.
