If Ship Interiors + Full Living Quarters in Stations and Carriers we're a Paid for Expansion, Would you Get it?

The Reason i ask this aside from the Release of new ships every few months, Which is nice and all, But the last expansion was Odyssey, If We Had Dedicated Ship Interiors layout for the Medium to Large ships, Living Quarters in Space Stations and Carriers would this be Worthy of a Full Expansion DLC you would buy? Personally i would be keen for it, i am sure this forum has many Ship interior topics, But if Funding were an Issue for Elite, would it help that we had a full Expansion for them? Also i am not aware of if any "problems" with Coding or if this is currently an issue for the Team, The Game itself is Dated. But with this being an expansion for the Game if it were to come into a Future Road map, it could well do with enough of a Budget to Update their Infrastructure I.E. Engine etc? would it be worth it, and would you get it?

I struggle to see how it could add enough gameplay value to be worth buying. Interiors by themselves have 0 value to me just like colonies with 0 benefits over NPC systems have no value to me. It's going to 100% come down to how much new gameplay was added. If it's just a new window into the existing gameplay or the same gameplay but slower. I don't think any of the walking elements have improved the game and by default would not buy any new on foot content unless there's a major rewrite.

Looking at the interiors we do have stations and carriers. If that's the standard we can expect it's an easy hard pass. They can go and improve what they've already built and then when they are something people voluntarily choose to engage with instead of being forced to we can consider if ship interiors could work.

I would. I like these purely cosmetic stuff.

Especially after hours of grinding, I can take a break and enjoy the view or find small details about the game. I like to dock on planetary outposts or settlements just to walk around and admire the scale of everything.

On a side note, I wish FDev update the free camera. Something like the camera mode in Cyberpunk 2077 will be nice.

I'd get it (I have a LEP, I don't have a choice). Probably wouldn't pay for it otherwise, though, unless it came with some very strong features noticeably better than Frontier's previous "walking around with your magnetic boots" content.

There's Operations coming in April (or thereabouts, subject to usual delays, etc) which is going to involve walking around the interiors of megaships. Let's see how that goes both in terms of technical polish and in terms of player reception.

Personally it holds little value to me, certainly with regard to what we currently have. I’ve seen the inside of my Carrier three or four times since I bought it when they came out and looked in the Sqd Carrier once whilst I had it.

Additional gameplay and/or a group who role play enough to actually regularly meet within an interior would be bare minimum for me to ever consider it.

As Ian mentioned above, let’s see what FDev bring with Operations. Perhaps that could change my mind.

I would only buy it if each ship had an individual layout corresponding to its shape (of course, manufacturer specific assets could be reused) and if you could do something on consoles or other access points in the ship that would have an effect. For example, manipulating safety devices on weapon modules, which would increase their power, but would also cause malfunctioning over the time and the insurancy would refuse to cover the rebuy costs if the player tinkering were too extensive.

And if the interior would become littered over time, like at the entrances to the elevators in the stations, then I would pay double – but only if the option “tidy up the mess” is added to the maintenance menu. In addition, the degree of littering in the interior should trigger quality of missions. Those who keep their ships clean receive lucrative imperial contracts, while litterbugs only get contracts from anarchists.

I would pay for that expansion, but only after like one year of release and once it is on >50% sale or so. The problem with it might be that its introduction would quite possibly reduce the experience for those using the (then) main game, just as what we saw with Odyssey (worse performance, reduced visuals, reset landscapes).
Since another big DLC is a huge investment, I doubt that FDEV will make the same mistake twice. P2W worked perfectly fine OTOH, so they will continue to do that and even elaborate on it (tried already with Dodec, we will most probably soon see another try). The current mode delivered free content for players willing to wait, so I'd prefer it to stay that way.

As stated no as 2/3rds is probably just fitting out a dolls house and ship interiors would either lead to gameplay I lost interest in decades ago or be skipped after a few walkthroughs.

I have a window that looks out onto my lovely garden.
Staring out of window in ED gets boring very quickly.

I'm in the same boat as an LEPer...but I wouldn't be over the moon if it was added. More spaceship gameplay would be much more beneficial.

One of the big issues with interiors is that even if they added it people wouldn't be happy and it would cause more problems than it's worth.

Why won't Fdev allow me to move my bed to over there?!
When are FDev going to allow to to hang a painting on the wall that I upload from my phone?
The fish in my fish tank don't swim like real fish, FDEV SORT IT NOW!!!!
I can't do anything in my living quarters, what's the point?
Wouldn't it be great if the TV in my room streamed YouTube vids?
When will Fdev add a working toilet?!!! Not buying anymore ARX until they do!!!

The posts would be endless and idiotic.
This is Elite: Dangerous, based on the 1984 game Elite...it's not The Sims.

It ain't COD either, as much as FDev tried.

I wished they had envisaged a much smaller scope when it came to on-foot content during the Odyssey planning and design phase, and had focused more on expanding and fleshing out spaceship related content. And now they're doubling down with Operations. Dev time that could've been spent on something more relevant. Le sigh.

I would have paid for Colonisation - that would have been well worth a tenner to get access to the Colonisation Contact.

For ship interiors, no. I want to spend my time flying my spaceship, not decorating it.

Agreed. Back in the day I was not happy at space legs and not happy that FDev implemented it instead of focusing on spaceships. As per my post above, even people who wanted it moaned even more, even though they'd got what they wanted...in fact this thread is related to that directly. My point proven, to a certain extent.
In saying that, because FDev announced Operations, I decided to play elite feet in December after the CG with the G5 Artamis suit reward. That CG was my 1st attempt and elite feet. I unlocked all the engineers, engineered quite a few suits and weapons. Hit Elite mercenary rank a few weeks ago. Some aspects were fun and a change from what I'd been doing for 10+ years...but since hitting Elite and having everything I want fully engineered I found myself thinking "Now what? What's the point of me doing those missions?"

Plus, it was far too easy and quick to hit Elite rank! 2 months! I felt cheated. Took me years to hit Elite in ship rank.
