If someone from Fdev streams themselves unlocking all the Guardian tech. I will eat my eye patch.

Not going to happen though is it? Even a dev comment is extremely unlikely considering the nature of the thread.

So basically this thread is doomed to go round and round in circles until someone steps over the line or it goes off topic too much, and then it will be locked.

Such is the fate of non-constructive threads.

Well let's keep it going round and round in circles then. Seems the optimum choice.

Come on FD don't be shy, showcase your fun stuff for all the boys and girls.

It's a pity, but you are probably correct.

What I want to know is who says all the guardian tech is 'meant to be' unlocked - by anyone - except maybe THE most dedicated players. Saying - there are 400 billion systems in the game, who's going to 'complete' that exploration - that maybe going a bit far but same principle? I've not been to Beagle Point either but props to anyone who has. If the tech's not worth it to you .. don't do the quest maybe?

Oddly enough, they aren't responding to any of the other threads complaining about the guardian unlock process either.

Nothing odd about it, every time there's anything new the grinders go a bit nuts at it then complain it's grindy. Most people look on bemused wondering why anyone would ever want to unlock it all at once or even at all for that matter.

Happens every time, grinders gonna grind whilst complaining it's the default state.

It's been a long time since they responded to anything at all.

The criticism in this thread is legitimate and widely held, the manner in which some of it has been expressed is a product of FD's lack of engagement. Sticking their heads in the sand won't help and the "harvesting salt from community" comment in previous patch notes speaks volumes about the attitude of the devs.

Anyway, another thing that isn't going to happen is me opening my wallet to buy anything from the FD store. Very disappointed.

The harvesting salt comment was a joke, and it was funny for all the players it wasn't actually aimed at.

Won't change a thing. I haven't bought anything since 2016, and that was a book. Only has an effect if everyone does the same, and I have the feeling that if that happened now, ED would move to unsupported very quickly.

It's done it's job now, FD is up and running with AAA titles arriving imminently.

I won't be buying those either.

It's unfortunate this thread seems to be very close to being closed due to off-topic sniping. I'm sure that wasn't the intention by the charming peeps in question.

It seems like there's a real win/win offer on the table here.

An awful lot of money can be raised for charity. FDev would get a big stream, no doubt publicised widely, and high viewing figures. And fans might get to see what we're doing wrong; how these mechanics can be fun and engaging. It would be educational, promotional, and would raise money for charity.

All we really need at this point is someone senior to liaise with the thread to arrange a time and place for us to tune in, so we can start putting the money into a GoFundMe or what-not - ideally one set up by FDev, so we can all be confident there's no 3rd parties handling the money.

So... how can we make this happen, Mr Community Mod peeps? :)

The last 20 or so posts on this topic have been off-topic.
Get back on topic, or the topic will cease to be. It will be an ex-topic. And we'll have to go and get nails to attach it to the perch.
Many thanks!
Why don't you censure the commanders dragging it off topic, it's pretty obvious who they are.

Realistically speaking that's not going to happen.

If you truly believe none of the devs are going to interact with this idea / thread and you said so at the very beginning, why are there a further 100 (guestimate) posts from you in a 696 post thread?

Paging Mr D Braben, any chance of creating this charity event your customers have come up with?

So you'll enjoy your Guardian modules in a year to never. Same here. But you don't see a problem with the level of repetition?

I find that hard to believe.

I believe you've accepted that the Guardian stuff is inaccessible, and that's about where I stand as well.

What I don't get is the insistence that it should be perfectly acceptable to everyone, when it most clearly is not.

Nope I've had a look at them and my first thought is I don't really need any of it/can't fit them all in my ship anyway so there's absolutely no point in considering a mass unlock spree of titanic proportions. I'd quite like to give the hybrid distro a bash and I'll probably get round to it soon, I've looked at what's involved and it doesn't seem hard at all.

There could actually be a valid point buried under all the exaggeration and "wah" but the opportunity to get it across is being squandered by the way it's being presented. Dev bashing and angry demands don't work any better than telling people to get out of the thread.

Well that is how the game was initially designed. Not as a grind simulator, but a game in which you'd just do stuff as you came across it. Why is so much information obfuscated? So that you'd discover and figure things out on your own (which would be 75% of the fun) rather than follow the intructions of a wiki to the letter ( because at this point you'd have skipped that very same 75% of the fun). Why do things take time to unlock? Because you're not meant to spend a week doing nothing but grinding for them. Because those things aren't meant to be the focus of your gaming sessions, they're just a distant goal, and unlocking them kinda happens eventually. They're meant to be the cherry on top: you're meant to enjoy the process, and once in a while you also get the satisfaction of unlocking them.
I thought this should be repeated.
Though I am far from Jukelo's perfection, and thus often at odds with his views, this is absolutely spot on, and the crux of why many people think they have to grind, and don't seem to enjoy their experience.
Elite's player base seems to consist of people who simply have to have the most expensive things in the shortest possible time, rather than actual players. Its a real shame for them that they miss out.
