If someone from Fdev streams themselves unlocking all the Guardian tech. I will eat my eye patch.

Might be innovative for you.

Which I guess is also progress.

Well done. Everyone needs a cave to themselves every once in a while.

Plus, in addition to fluffy hats, chicks dig the confidence.

I'm surfing on the sea of tears, you can't get much more innovative than that.

Obviously Stigbob, being a Russian bot, has trouble grasping what innovation is.

His process-scheduler follows a five ten year plan. :p

You need a wave to surf.

Without any comment from FDev on the matter, there is no change in the tide.

Only paddling against the current.

I seem to be creating waves just by having the temerity to be positive about this aspect of the game, in it's own forum. Which is somehow oddly controversial.

Also conspiracy #3 Stigbob is a secret dev. So that's covered dev comments.

Nah, I don't think it's controversial. We're all entitled to our own opinion.

It's just that yours is very odd.

More power to you though. Who wants to be normal?

You just keep innovating by following the rule book.

I'm the one who only ever plays video games I enjoy, do we really want to get into a what's "normal" discussion in a thread complaining about the entirely optional thing in the entirely optional form of entertainment ?.

I get the impression I've already won.

Still no reply from FDev then?

I very much doubt they will respond or even acknowledge this thread. They know how boring and repetitive it is, I’m sure it wasn’t news to them as they designed it this way on purpose. They just won’t have a decent response to this issue, especially since the truth is such a downer.

At best update 3.1 might lower the blueprint requirements by half, or maybe they’ll boost the blueprint drops from one to three per event like it was at 3.0. If that happens though it will likely just be a line in the patch notes with no official response or fanfare, to minimize any further negativity.

I certainly wouldn’t expect Frontier to go back and redesign the feature to include some actual gameplay or engaging mechanics. Frontier’s development history suggests the chances of that happening are next to nil. With that reality in mind they will have nothing positive to say on this whole Guardian Grind matter. Thus silence over communication. It’s Frontier’s preferred style of community management unfortunately.

Fantastic reply for this thread, cheers.

Evening comrade stigbob, I thought most people were up in arms about the lack of game play this involves, in a game most of us enjoy playing. Even though as you point out its optional and no one is holding a frozen chicken to anyones head, you have to at least a agree in a small part doing the same thing over..wait thats ED in a nutshell, I'll get my coat. :p

Yep, all games are timesinks. Do what you enjoy ignore the rest and don't sweat the stuff you don't fancy doing.

It's hardly rocket surgery.

The only problem with that statement is that what you don't want to do is very much often directly in the way of what you do want to do. And it is designed that way on purpose. Intentionally designed to stall player progress.

Fdev go hard out of their way to make sure you do as well despite our best efforts.

Then you have to make a judgement call as to whether what you have to do is either worth the effort involved or can be approached in such a way as to make it fun in your opinion. I take small bites try to avoid grind and allow myself to be distracted by anything that takes my fancy, which works really well for me or I wouldn't be here after four years and is why I tried guardian stuff in the first place.

Plasma chargers are beyond any doubt the most fun weapon I've used in the game. On their own they shouldn't take you more than a few of hours even counting travel time, less if you relog but that's removing fun (from my viewpoint).

If it seems like too much you probably don't really want or need them, just accept that's the decision for you and be happy with it. If you make the decision and you are unhappy with it (either way) you've made the wrong decision and should change your mind.

Can't imagine why Fdev would want to wade in and reply to this thread. it's hardly been conducive to calm, quiet reflection and they'd have nothing to gain but white noise.
Certainly has been a lot of middle aged folks waggling their joysticks in each others faces for dominance and that alone has made this thread highly entertaining if not predictable, so thanks guys.

The people who are conducting "calm quite reflection" have come to the same conclusions. And that conclusion is that this is messed up...

We have 3 other major threads going on about the same exact thing. The ones by VJ or Yamiks seem civil enough so far (not that this thread isn't civil. I don't see how it isn't) so they can take their pick.

As for what they have to gain? Assuring players that they recognize the problem like we have would do a lot to make people feel better about the future and near future. Right now Fdev has not even recognized the problem in any public form. And as I am sure many of you know. The first step solving a problem is admitting you have one.

No but I would like to invite you to my home so you can acquire these guardian weapons for me since you say you enjoy it so much (and I don't) :)

So at what point does Fdev's design flaws have to become my personal problem?

Most of your answers deflect the problem back on the person. Its not that Fdevs design is flawed but its that the player is flawed in their character or their approach according to much of your answers.

And that is just not true.

And yet people keep responding to him expecting an objective argument.
