If someone from Fdev streams themselves unlocking all the Guardian tech. I will eat my eye patch.

Maybe all these donations should go to a trust that can be used to buy a controlling share of the company, then it could really be a design by player product.

483 mil market cap, let's get to it.

Hah!

No one at Fdev has ever fully engineered a ship
No one at Fdev has unlocked Palin.
No one at Fdev has reached admiral or king or likely 1/3 of that rank
No one at Fdev has ever reached elite status

They don't play their own game. So much of the placeholders and grind would be evident if they did.

I really like Elite. It’s the only game on my PC at the moment. I just bought a 1080GTX TI just to get the max visuals out of it. Planning on getting a new mobo and the latest Intel CPU just to keep playing it.

But what I would really like to see is a stream of Sandro, Ed and the other designers unlocking engineers, rank leveling (both naval and PF), and unlocking the new tech. All without the dev tools. Also, completing surface scan missions and supporting a BGS faction.

P.S.: And I think I’ve racked up about more than 2000hrs of game time.

P.P.S.: Add me in for another US$50

add me to the list for th 50 box ... i think they dont give sh**t about what we think ...and to thous people hou speends 8 hours a day to play this game. i think they dont have a life , realy 18 bleu print and a 100 materials to unlock somthink dont work like the fsd booster i just can't believe the fdevs !! they dont understand that they are some fun's for this game can't play more than 2 hours a day , time its so precious to spend grinding somthing we deserve to have it easly .

they will never play this game because they dont have time fr that ...we.... do !!! because we are stupid to play this game .

I can predict that the "plan" here is:

1. Wait until the thread gets hot for some reason.
2. Use the above X reason to lock this thread.
3. Sit back and relax, while this matter gets forgotten.

Here's an alternative.

1. Wait until the update that they actually make this not terrible.
2. Run the livestream unlocking it in a not terrible way.
3. ????
4. Profit (for charity)

I noticed, the other day, that honking no longer works during assassination missions and was directed to a bug report thread.

In that thread, somebody from QA confirmed that you have to scan the nav beacon rather than honking to locate your target.
To which, somebody pointed out that the mission-briefing specifically SAYS you can use a disco-scanner to locate your target.

QA operative re-appears to clarify that he meant that honking with a disco-scanner only works at a reduced range.
To which, somebody had to ask for clarification since the range of the ADS is supposed to be infinite.

Not really fussed how this turns out but the main point is that there would have been no confusion at all if the person from QA was at all familiar with the game.

Also, I doubt they're familiar with QA either, given that Quality Assurance is absolutely nothing to do with dealing with faulty products, but I digress.

It's just depressing really.

Just out of curiosity - what is the range? [wacky]

Im stacking these pirate lord missions out at Maia at the moment.

While having to scan the nav beacons isnt too bad,a lot of times 2 or 3 of the mission targets will drop in together while your still there so can be efficent,it does feel like a regression for the mission type givin we could use the ADS before though.

I would say it does feel like it fits the mission description more though. If its not a bug its a shame they didnt get it right from the start. Feels like they are adding an unessacery step givin how we previously were able to complete them.

You guys should increase the pressure and donate some real money instead of just talking about it.

Create a Kickstarter and set stretch goals (5k for each module), if someone from FDEV streams it the money gets donated to Special Effect, otherwise the Project gets cancelled and everyone gets a refund. Pick someone from the community you can trust, maybe ask Obsidian Ant to handle the Kickstarter. Pretty sure the gaming media would write something about it as well, they love this kind of stuff.

You can't teach old dogs new tricks?

But they did learn. They learned from engineering that locking players in to one specific activity to acquire what they needed was not good game play. So now we have mat traders and you can do whatever you want to do and still make reasonable strides towards your engineering goals.

But then they went and made the same damned old mistake for Guardian tech by locking players into one repetitive activity in order to progress. So its not so much a case of Old dog but breaking bad habits.

Personally, I think it weak and cowardly that FD have not responded to this thread.

Makes me wonder what they are afraid of...or they are wondering which of the design team should carry the blame.

Either way, it's pretty poor.
