If someone from Fdev streams themselves unlocking all the Guardian tech. I will eat my eye patch.

Everybody hates CQC Stigbob. It's a half-done, arcadey piece of garbage with no actual lobby. Even giving it away for free did nothing to increase the number of people who played it. Stop being disingenuous.

Or have you just never tried CQC?

That would be fitting, considering your other comments in this thread. ;)

You hate it, but thankfully you are not everybody.

I quite like it but then I don't get upset about video games so I constantly have the advantage.

I think it's fun so not everybody ;) but ...

I totally agree with half done and lacking a lobby. And bots. and meaning/consequence in the main game.

That could be FDEV canning something due to metrics, it also explains the lack of PVP centric content they've introduced since it would seem to be a waste of dev time.

I do grind, usually while asking myself why, and I still play although I do take breaks like now.

However, I do agree with a lot of the points you make.

Try 7 days to die - lot's of grind in that but it's fun - they did mining right.

Who's upset?

Since you're not doing the guardian unlocks you should have plenty of free time. Why don't you hop on CQC right now, and live stream your attempts at matchmaking to show us all how much fun it is!

The player numbers speak for themselves. Just because a few people might like it doesn't mean it's not a festering pile of garbage that should never have had dev time wasted that could have been used to make the core game better.

Playing devil's advocate here, but the stream would have to be a very long one that took days if not weeks, if FDev enjoy playing ED the way I and many others like to play which is to frequently change activities instead of doing the same thing over and over in one session, which burns you out.

Playing this way in a stream or realistically a series of streams would consist of flying to a couple of guardian sites to get some blueprint fragments, fly back to the bubble and do some bounty hunting in a res, change ship and do some trading, outfit for mining and do some mining, return to the Guardian sites and get some more blueprint fragments, head over to the Thargoid bases and do some science, partake in a CG, engineer an FSD, do a quick trip to Colonia and back, do some more bounty hunting, get some more blueprint fragments, etc. etc...

Doing a stream that way could take the developer away from working on the game for weeks which would have an effect on any project plans and delay any updates. Do you really want that? Just saying. ;)

I have yet to see or here of someone actually collecting the blueprint shards in this way. While many people who haven't done it, say that if we play like them then there wouldn't be a problem.
Can I please see which modules you've unlocked and/or how many blueprint shards you have collected this way. So I know you are not just speaking in hypotheticals.

You obviously which is why you try criticizing what I've written in general terms without actually quoting it or responding to the thing I actually said, it gives the impression that you want to disagree but can't think of anything to actually say.

Incidentally I've noticed you've vanished from my in game friends list is it a CMDR reset or are you no longer intent on tracking me down and teaching me a lesson ?.

I'll give it a look, thanks.

Actually I think it's telling of FDev's general development in that they don't commit to following a development path through. Powerplay/CQC/MC etc COULD be good and add loads to the game but they get it going at an MVP level and then leave it alone because nobody engages. I genuinely think they should try a different path and go all in until they make it work.

Here's a thing, the heist of megaships and high value targets they introduced in 3.0. I made a point of going to look at both because I think they're great ideas but:
- there's no gameplay leading you naturally to doing either, you have to actively seek it out and you'd have no idea that it was there if you didn't follow development and patch notes
- the current 0% PP bug makes the high value targets ridiculously hard for my skills
- silent running doesn't work properly properly at the megaship I tried, you automatically get a bounty and security response even when there's no ships around to see you despite it being talked about as being possible
- for the megaship heists you get lots of useless cargo with no way to encourage the high value stuff out

Both have the potential to be a lot of fun, but like a lot of other stuff I'm afraid that it won't get any more attention.

But also agree that Core Gameplay should have been a priority from the start.

Ths.This.This.

LOL.

They could have been so much better but no,we got the MVP. I suppose they just had to get on and do the next barebones project. I'm trying to imagine just what they discuss and design - let's make this barely working product? That's what they decided and it's what we got so they must have said that, right?

I'll give it a look, thanks.

Oh take a look at Subnautica and Kingdom Come Deliverance as well but don't read any wiki's, don't watch any playthroughs or you can ruin the game.

Subnautica is definitely one of my better purchases in recent months, i was able to step away and say "I had fun playing this". Ive only been able to do that in Elite since i got the Corvette.

I love it, it's the game I'm most playing right now and has "overwhelmingly positive reviews" on steam which I don't think I've seen before LOL

Don't you know ? Steam reviews are meaningless here. ;)

If FDev does away with the grind crutch and build well Meshed mechanics instead of a mess of disjointed minigames*, I'm sure that the steam review would get better.
Then again, steam is a kind of bogeyman arround here. Best not speak of it.

*Case in point : I can wing up, I can do MC, and I can do SRV. But I can't mix those three things in all the possible way.

You're the one who keeps telling everyone how they should be playing, bobbie. I'm just pointing it out to you. And CQC sucks, but I'm not upset about it... I just don't play it.

I vanished from your list a long time ago, Stigyboi.

And what's all this nonsense about hunting you down?

I offered you a friendly 1v1 several times.

You never came out to play. [haha]

No mate you said you were coming to get me, so I friended you as without that you couldn't actually find me. Then you said you were thinking about setting me up for a gank but never actually managed it. Probably because in the time you were in my friends list you only ever logged into open the one time, and you logged out as soon as I logged in.

You have to not play in solo all the time to do PVP stuff (that's me telling you how to play again).

If you go look in the blocking thread, that's why you wanted to "get" me IIRC you can read what you said if you like the links in my sig.

Gents, off-topic sniping will get this closed before I get to see how long a big thread on the main board over an extended period of time can be (more or less) ignored by community managers quite literally paid to engage with the community. Please don’t give them that out.

They don't need a reason to shut threads that bother them, it's their forum. They just really are not that bothered by it.

Probably Stigbob's intention. But I would certainly put money down for this. The gameplay we have is no substitute for gameplay with substance.

I've filtered out certain people who tend to "hog the spotlight", which cuts the size of threads like this in half, and even then this thread huge

There is no fiendish conspiracy, there's just some people who can't communicate their issues (real or imagined) articulately without trying to get personal.

It's the reason threads like this go ignored, they are effectively self limiting.

It does look that way, doesn’t it?

You know - all these years I thought I was supporting an ongoing project, building something really cool and building on solid but limited foundations. I think a lot of people did.

Turns out what came out initially was pretty much the game? You might be cool with that, hell, maybe I would have been too if they’d come out and said that from the start instead of promising more. But they would have made a lot less money.

You know. I think back to the FDev Expo thing last year. I would say at least 90% of the people in that room were Elite fans first and foremost - kept in a hall and milked for overpriced merchandise, food, drinks with very very little to do while being used as means to support and provide attention to other projects FDEV were working on. Baited on the whole while of ‘big news’ and ‘big improvements’ that never seemed to materialize. You notice a pattern?

Now go and check out Eve’s fan events.

I feel a bit silly for having fought their corner and defended Elite as a project. I keep waiting for someone to comment on this thread and make me and the other concerned fans feel better about a part of the game that is beyond any shadow of a doubt daft and maybe you’re right. Maybe that’s expecting far too much.
