If someone from Fdev streams themselves unlocking all the Guardian tech. I will eat my eye patch.

At this point, after all these pages i think i know the new plan they have. They are keeping radio silence and they will release the 3.1 patch so we can shut our mouths and do something else.
i also suspect that they will do further damage controll, by implementing some minor changes on this specific guardian grind so fanbois will go:

Awww they did finally listened and reduced this grind, which was just a little bit too much. What a bunch of swell devies we have. Arent they marvelous!!!!!!11!!!1

Pathetic.

What I hate of ED is that the only way to interact with the outside world and get mats and everything is shooting your weapons, not space legs exploration inside the derelics or wrecks or whatever. They have to learn a lot from subnautica and other games.

And ramming. That's the best part.

I've got a proper уша́нка, товарищ Bob... I'm hoping that wearing it when attempting the guardian nonsense will make it seem as fun as you undoubtedly find it [yesnod]

I think your bang on - just that I happen to think that's probably what needs to happen.
I see two conflating things here - those who see the Guardain "puzzle" as it stands (at least two of us) as fine - but needs drop rate adjusted, and then the sizeable chunk of folk who think we need a completely different type of content delivery.
I'm obviously in the first group, but not averse to other changes (but, think it unlikely any time soon) - I'm a "fanboi" in the sense that I like the game not only as it stands now, but as it was at launch. I'm slightly worried that as Elite has no real competitiors right now we will continue to see increasing demands for it to fill the void left by that non competition - most notably Star Citizen, but also the rather odd lack of a modern x-wing v Tie fighter series for another.
I also think that ED is very much on the "back burner" - the complete non testing of the Guardian frame shift drive booster I think shows that more than anything.
I dont think it's a case of having swell or otherwise devs... I suspect we have effectively none (at least full time) at the minute.

Excellent pic - should be in the manual as the approved attire for playing Elite - be a bit tricky getting an edtracker to stay on the headgear though

The best way to approach the guardian structures is by visiting different ones, don't hammer at it. And if you can visit them when they are on the dark side it's more atmospheric. It's the most fun I've had in an SRV, the sentinels are a blast.

That's a magnificently patriotic hat comrade, I tried it out on my avatar but it suits you better you have been rightly awarded the highest honor possible.

Just a thought I would like to add that I sort of forgot to touch on.

You have the Credit Economy.

You have the Engineering Economy.

(You have the Raw Materials Economy.)

(You have the Data Economy.)

(You have the Manufactured Materials Economy.)

You have the Power Play Economy.

And now we have the Guardian Tech Economy.

Anything I missed?

And all of them are isolated from the others.

There is nothing wrong with Alternative Economies in games. When used right and in moderation.

Just a thought...

You are welcome Moley, glad you liked it. I can twiddle it down to a more ID card sized thing if you like for avatar purposes.

Someone asked for screenies from outfitting here you go.

Shard cannon (shot gun), awaiting testing.

Gauss cannon (guardian rail gun) fires like a standard railgun, not yet tested on Thargoids does amazing damage to low level NPC's with no shields (could have been lucky untargeted power plant hits) not so effective against dangerous and above.

Plasma charger (funky PA) pull trigger to charge release to fire, can two shot a Thargoid scout with a volley from three of these. Good against pirates not so much against dangerous and above, but still effective. This is my favorite so far, more Thargoid testing may change this.

Just don't play the ruins grind, that's the metric they watch, not the forum.

Well, what did you expect? ;)
Its not like there suddenly will be any deep change just because somebody rightfully pointed some bad aspects on forum. It was going on for years for crying out loud.

FDev only replies (or post at all anyway) if the reply/post will be like a "good PR", even if admitting the bug to say "we have this new awesome fix and it will be great this time". If there is no such good PR at all, they won't acknowledge it even and just pretend they are genuinely not noticing, just because its nothing to notice and game has flaws but still mostly great, m'kay?

Aye, these all need tying together - you kind of get the impression that they might someday, but haven't got around to it yet.
I would bet on some form of combined trader for all materials will appear at some point - though possibly long after anyone still needs them.

Plasma charger you can vary strength of shot - longer you "charge" it - stronger the shot.
A well timed and charged blast from two of these pretty much destroys all medium size npc shields in one shot - Thargoid or human - easily the best mutlirole weapon I've found in the game and I can't recomend it highly enough.

I never use it at less than full charge, seems better to wait and properly ker-blam something. I start charging for my next shot immediately after firing before even starting to line up so I very rarely fire at anything less than maximum stonk. They don't hit that hard against npc's shields at dangerous and above, absolutely devastating against Thargoids and lower level NPC's though.

A fully charged shot does 45.9 damage (17 * 2.7). A medium UNENGINEERED PA does 54.3 damage.

How many Community Managers do they have at FDev? Because it feels like other than forum mods this is the most unmanaged community out there... I wonder what they do with their time?

How many Community Managers do they have at FDev?
Quite a few, but Community Managers can't give an answer when there is no good answer. All they can do is rely what devs tell them - and if devs have nothing to tell, go figure.

They are in the middle of an office move I think.
I've been through 4 moves in 3 different UK companies, and they barely take 10 minutes of your time as employee.
On last day at last place (usually friday) you get crate at your desk - you put your things into it. Next week you come to new workplace and your stuff is already here, your IT kit is set up and you ready to go (with only minor hiccups sometimes).

Saying that "office move" prevents normal functioning of a company for weeks, would be *highly* unusual.
