I am pretty sure Elite's codebase is about 90% bigger and more complex than No Man's Sky's.ah, this was after fdev crashed and burned and the game got rescued by hello games who blended the codebase with NMS was it not?
No, that's a code limitation. They tried to make it customizable but the game was so broken that players had constantly:Can you change carrier id yet?
Sounds good, but you no say how VR like in your time?I'm a player from the future and I jumped to the past to bring relief and hope to this great ED game community.
Maybe you're not aware, but 2021 in our times is well known as the "Dark Era" of Elite Dangerous.
But do not worry. The game in our time is currently shining... we have ship interiors with proper Armstrong Moment, explorable oceans in water worlds, planetary mining on volcanic worlds, earth like worlds full of indigenous life and old civilization ruins, cloud cities in gas giants and power play has become the gaming example for strategic simulation. Thargoids story content received a huge boost back in 2023 when FLOVE (you probably still call them FDEV) created a free handcrafted interstellar initiative that lasted 1 year in total. All gameplay loops were actively engaged and it ended in a very unexpected but compelling great finale. It was like an opera show and you know how they say... it ain't over till the fat lady sings![]()

In 2024 when they released the ship interiors and full atmospheric planets, the community was so high that we even asked to rise the price of the expansion to show our gratitude. FLOVE of course refused, so the additional money was collected during a community initiative and spent to buy a billboard to be installed in front of Frontier HQ to say "Thank You for the Great Job!".
We even changed the "o7" salute to "FLOVE". To return the favor, FLOVE released for free the Panther Clipper, Small Seismic Charges and a new set of SRV's, each one dedicated to a specific game activity, including the long forgotten touristic missions.
VR players don't have to wait too much to finally see the famous FSS missing orbit lines bug fixed and play with a proper implementation of 1st person VR experience. Be sure to have motion controllers too, because you're gonna have a lot of fun, especially with the new interactive UI!
Communication with CM and FLOVE team is an example for gaming communities nowadays. They are so engaged with us that sometimes the moderators have to limit their messages to avoid too much information spam.
I know that time travel could adversely affect the time line and everything I said above could probably never happen anymore in your time line because of my presence here now... but I wanted to take the risk to bring some light into your lives!!!
FLOVE CMDR's!!!
Well, we had some technological issue... in fact we now play ED on intel 386 which is the only stable CPU. FLOVE made an excellent job optimizing the game!
A shame, as my carrier id contains all the letters from my first name and pretty much in the right order, and if you go to name a ship frontier advises you not to use personel information - sighsNo, that's a code limitation. They tried to make it customizable but the game was so broken that players had constantly:Purple Moray Errors

Is Star Citizen in beta yet in your time?I don't remember exactly... 2036 is a lot back in the past for me
Nah, I'm from 2231 and we still have an Alpha. Is Star Citizen in beta yet in your time?
It's an alpha ? Technically, a game is considered in beta when it's feature complete, and SC is not.Is Star Citizen in beta yet in your time?
It's an alpha ? Technically, a game is considered in beta when it's feature complete, and SC is not.
But then ED had a "Gamma", so I'm not sure we are following any guidelines.
So Odyssey isn't in beta yet?(In the roadmap)
- Update 4 – Thursday 17th June
- Codex CMDR stats
- Update 5 – Thursday 24th June
- Shared missions
Early access. It's the "free out of jail" card for game with variable release date.So Odyssey isn't in beta yet?
