Hello everyone.
Just re-discovered my love for this game and basically newbie now. Playing mostly in UK evening time (not a serious hardcore gamer... playing on a MacBook!)

Currently doing RES bounty hunting to up my CR and upgrading my Cobra III.

Looking for casual friendly group for fun. Quite happy to help out where I can.

GT Mtu 1492, have mic and looking for mature players; will help although I am new and a noob.

Hey I am part of a mature clan called MoGZ of War currently looking for more laidback fun players to join in! www.mogzofwar.enjin.com is our website, we are active on PC and PS4 across multiple games. Have our own Teamspeak servers too. We have members from across the globe, but most are UK, EU and NA.

Newer player looking for a group. Voice chat friendly. Currently flying a combat focused viper emblazoned with the good ol' stars n stripes. I'm usually drunk at the stick, but I promise to check my targets ;]

Just started elite dangerous this weekend, looking for some guys to play with and to have some fun. Still got my sidewinder but 200k in the bank looking for a new ride. I've got team speak, ventrilo, and any voip you can think of.

Thanks!

Hello Portal.
Don't worry you wont be the only one out there drunk, but at least you admit it.

Dear God how do you play this game? I did the tutorials; felt confident, then boom! I die a lot. I am not even sure what faction I am! If there are any noob groups out there that would like to Sherpa me through the most basic concepts of the is game, hit me up. I think one day I would like to be an explorer. Wandering the vast void of space while listening to Wil Wheaton reads from "Ready Player One" sounds like heaven.

Come over to the explorer's forum, then.

As for teaming up - well, the problem in that respect with explorers is that they are rarely in the same system as anybody else (unless they're on an expedition like Distant Worlds). I'm ATM on the way to RR Lyrae, doing The Weaver And The Cowherd route as a shakedown cruise. Next, I want to do the obligatory trip to Sgr A*.

But back to your problems:
- did you do the first training missions, i.e. can you fly your ship, dock on outposts and dock in stations?
- do you have Horizons and can you land on planets in one piece?
- do you have a fuel scoop and do you know how to scoop?

Then, first of all, get out of the starter systems (and the next couple of systems or so). If you want to avoid the loving[1] attention of other players, you might want to switch to solo mode, or check out the Mobius group, at least for some time. I started off in solo, the switched to Mobius, then tried my hand at some PvE combat in a Vulture (boring...), now I got an Explorer with teeth (probably useless against another player, but should be able to stand up against NPC interdictions) and dare to fly in open. Just haven't met any other CMDR yet... . But I'm an old fart, and my idea about enjoying a game doesn't include being shot down by vastly superior ships. Your mileage may differ.

Next, while you could go exploring in a Sidewinder, it's a challenge. So find a way to make at least a little money (with me, that was running basic courier missions) until you can afford a Hauler or an Adder - either makes a good exploration ship. Just keep in mind that setting any ship up for exploration can cost you several millions to get the equipment you'd want.

A minimum exploration Hauler could be something like this.
But then, you could also upgrade it to something like this - note the price. Those A-rated scoops and high powered scanners are expensive.... That still won't let you explore a planet, though - for that, you'll either need to sacrifice the shields or a scanner, or get a ship with at least five internal compartments.

[1]Just hoping you're old enough for that...

Thanks for the reply Ashnak!
Yeah did the tutorials and thought I had a handle on this game.
I do have horizons and I tried to get some money by trying to go kill some npc. I almost got him, but ran away. Couldn't chase him because I needed to scan something. All the other missions I have available are planet side and I would rather focus on space for now.
I understand that exploration is a long way off, but that is the goal.

Hi Cmdr.
Elite Dangerous has a very steep learning curve and the best way to ride that curve is with others that can guide you and help you through it.
Being part of an organised group gives you the ability to be guided by pilots with every level of skill, as and when you need it.
We have a lot of assignment that need filling in system and in the wider galaxy, our intelligence department need spy's, our Mining department needs cutters and transporters, our combat department always need good pilots to keep the system clean, our commerce department needs haulers, there is always a good reason to explore, in short there is always something to do and there is always someone to help.
Join us.

If you have teamspeak .. log into ts.coffin-dodgers.rip

You will find a bunch of bods that are willing to train and explain. Both Europe and USA players.

We specialise in helping those old enough to remember the earlier versions of Elite .. but we have young players as well.

Most of us hold Elite rank in combat, trade and/or exploration.. so there is plenty of experience to tap into.

What you won't find is a bunch of foul mouthed, egocentric keyboard warriors !

I'm just getting back into playing this game after a 6 month break, so there's a lot of new content that I'm getting my head around also. Luckily I have a few friends that are helping me too. Anyway if you'd like to join up with us to discuss or play the game, I'll be online every Sunday and Monday evening at around 8pm (Eastern time). You're welcome to join us twitch.tv/martb64

Hi,

Ive just started a new CMDR on a second account and I am looking for anyone that is interested in joining up with Shadow Squadron. Mainly a combat focused group and play mainly in the Mobius private group. Very friendly towards new players and willing to mentor and help all the new pilots.

Feel free red to PM me if anyone is interested.
