Powerplay I'm not understanding something: Undermining and merits.

I'm pledged to patreus so I can get those sweet APAs, and I'm gonna undermine to get there. So I got to Rana, a system controlled by Hudson. Controlled, not exploited. Ive found several ships pledged to Hudson, interdicted them, and killed them.

I have a whopping zero merits. What am I doing wrong here.....?

Don't you have to return to one of your own control systems to cash in, like war zones? It's been a while.

The fact that it's controlled by Hudson isn't enough. It has to be the control system (the centre of the "mini bubble" of exploited systems - it's highlighted, if you switch the powerplay map filters)
Once you're there, you can kill any hosile PP ships for merits, not just Hudson's (just don't kill imperial)

I think with 2.2.03 there was a change regarding undermining.

Powerplay undermining and opposition vouchers can only be obtained from ships belonging to the Power expanding in to or controlling the system.

You're not doing anything wrong - Rana is indeed a Hudson control system, and to undermine Hudson you need to kill ships pledged to Hudson.

But as Saool pointed out, you need to hand them in to your PowerPlay contact in one of Patreus' control systems. Until then they'll simply be listed in your transactions panel on the left hand side. Failing to turn them in before dying OR before the cycle ticks (07:00 game time Thursday morning) results in the merits being null and void.
