Im sooooo bored thread

It's a boring game. I think the very low difficulty level and lack of anything unexpected happening both play a part.

That and the lack of content obviously.

a simulator is not really a game, it simulates the universe while it exists, and you can fly around in it.
So you are a space ship doing space things

I couldnt answer that exactly but going by how much i played say "world of tanks" which is for me 300hours+ id say from the point the game was launched its far in excess of that which would probably make people say "i only have myself to blame" for the burnout but this game hasnt really changed much since Beta and im a massive space buff who would spend all his available time in a virtual recreation of space with blackholes......wait maybe im not selling my point here xD
Ah, World of Tanks. I have a somewhere in the vicinity of 25000 games in WoT and love it, but I am currently taking a break for the most part. I managed to get into the Alpha test for World of Warships, now in Closed Beta, so the other game I spend a lot of time in besides Elite is WoWS. In the past I've spent a lot of time in the Dragon Age games, the Elder Scrolls games, the Fallout series and Lord of the Rings Online, among many others. All of those are kind of on hiatus for now, even though there are more things I would like to do in all of them. Eventually any game can get a little old, but a break can help.

So basically its a boring simulation, ah ok because that out of the black trailer really made that clear...........
.
Thanks for agreeing

We all find different things boring. A lot of modern AAA franchises leave me cold...I suspect that I'm not their target audience. Also, burnout happens, as I mentioned in a prior post in this thread. This game was never meant to be all things to all men. It's a niche game that got funded by the combined nostalgia of a bunch of older Elite players, and the desire for another classic space game in a fairly empty marketplace (at the time) from other space sim enthusiasts. It has achieved that aim thus far, and development is ongoing. Criticising it for that would be silly.

As long as Mr Braben doesn't get too carried away by the unexpected popularity of his project and start turning it into some dumbed-down Space Battlefield to chase after that filthy mainstream lucre, I'm fairly happy with how things have turned out thus far, although I have severely restricted playing time compared to some of the shut-ins on this forum.

Hear hear.

I am the same way.

This game is a massive snoozefest. It will most likely stay that way because fanboys and their ridiculousness don't want players to be able to organize, construct, own, fight for, care about anything.

Elite won't last long, unfortunately....

Bahahaha, case on point.

You people need to give that garbage argument a rest.

Totally agree, you try and put an idea out there and the fundamentalists just rain abuse and sarcasm at you... or just plain tell you to get lost if you don't like ED.

Thing is I love ED which IS why I want it to be better

The only game I have really gotten into in a few years is Elite Dangerous and War Thunder. Like Armour, most modern games leave me cold and I get bored within about 15 minutes of playing them. Once you take away the graphics and simplistic controls your always left with nothing to do except maybe grind to see what happens next in the story.

Only problem is, if you read a lot of fiction. Most games have stories that are so full of stale old cliches and naive political agendas. I can only imagine the people writing them grew up in the last 20 years and use Hollywood movies and TV shows as their primary source of inspiration. Where original thoughts and ideas are typically few and far between.

This game just isn't going to appeal to everyone and it's unfortunate that the trailers are often quite misleading. Trying to sell the game as something it is not. Star Wars Clone Wars arcade space battles seems to be what the trailers try to sell. A shame because then all the COD and SWTOR players the ads appeal to and pick it up are understandably going to be disappointed.

Never played PoE then? There is dialogue in that game that has almost bought me to tears it's so immense, most of us here are the hardcore we know what to expect in a niche game, but this isn't a game its a simulation of the solar system with our money.
.
If the ads are 'misleading' can we get our money back and let us pick it up from the steam bargain bin in a years time for £5 when people like yourself are going on about why the game went to hell because people expected too much?

The adverts skewed the game towards combat and action but it didn't mention any of the things that people are asking for as much needed, or at least desired content. The advert didn't show anything that you can't do, so you can't blame it for not being something you hoped or expected it would be.

I have never seen craft come out of a station when you attack someone near it and chase you off.
.
As for my hopes please see some of the DB videos there is functionality there that is no where near the game, I expect nothing more and nothing less. I am not expecting walking on planet or the such as I KNOW that was promised later, I expect basic functionality promised in development that isn't anywhere near the game.

If you attacked my wingman while I was docked I'd leave the station to come to their aid. Just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it isn't possible.

Things said in the kickstarter aren't in the advert. We were talking about the advert. I wasn't involved with the kickstarter so I can't comment. However, if you want your money back this isn't the place to look for it.

No you get instaganked by the station guns, unless you have the right cheats on. Remember Wingmen only arrived last month.......

Chances were you weren't in the same instance and couldn't communicate with them in game.

Indefensible

Let me take you through my first MP experience with my brother in law who I recommended for him to buy the game. (with the help of the launch trailer)
.
We found each other at a station, (in a private group) flew out of the station limits and started shooting at each other one of us dies and respawns at the station. We spend the next three hours trying to get each other into the same instance in the private group. We then start flying around together when we eventually get together to try and take on one of those wedding/funeral barges for a laugh. I drop in heat up the guns and wait for him to join my USS. and wait, and wait while he was just behind me he goes into uss's and cant find me.
.
experience over after that was the best mp experience I can get, of my 5 friends who own the game including him another friend is the only one that plays any more and he was a original elite player (with myself) and he plays after every update, I can't get any of the rest of them to play............
.
4 MONTHS later they add MP functionality to this game

They missed the perverbial Orca for many players
