Ships Imperial Clipper needs buff!

Imperial Clipper needs buff!

Clipper is a great ship: it is beautiful, fast, graceful.

Unfortunately, he has problems that negate his combat potential.
The main reason, the location of hardpoints excludes the use of fixed weapons. Poor convergence makes it impossible to play comfortably. Even just moving the hardpoints to the nose will be great!

Of course, it would be nice to increase the Power Distributor class from 6 to 7 and add 1-2 utility mounts, but this is not necessary.

Let's all ask the FD crew to buff this beautiful ship!

The Empire is a power based on peace, it does not and should not have warships. Even the Cutter is not essentially a warship.

Nah, it is pretty good as is. I have 2 of them. Clipper was never intended to be a battle ship, we have our lovely Cutter for that. I see Clipper as an armed high speed smuggler with pretty decent range and cargo capacity and its main weapon is speed. You can get engineered gimballed weapons and it will do just fine (that's what I have on my Clipper) but at some point you will need better shield and hull and you going to make it too heavy and slow. I have engineered distributor and I can fire two 3C engineered beam lasers indefinitely, so bigger size is not really required either. Here's my mission runner https://s.orbis.zone/buG4.

1. I think he meant its suitability for PvP battles as well.
2. Who thinks that the Cutter is a battleship I think he is mistaken. Bad distributor and maneuverability ...

I'd say its a good battleship. Poor distributors can be overcome with kinetics and/or engineering. Manouverability - well, my argument is all large ships should have poor manouverability (the Corvette especially needs a whack with the nerf hammer) and have to rely on turrets to compensate.

On the topic of Clipper, here we go again. Personally think the Clipper is in a damn fine place as it is and well down the list of ships that need looking at. Its relatively cheap, fast, agile, and good internals making it suitable for a wide array of roles and even decent at combat, although i don't think that is an area where it shines. But not all ships need to shine at combat to be good.

Its the same as when people rate the Cobra Mk4 based off its combat ability (its not a bad combat ship either if you play to its strengths) rather than looking at it from the point of view of what it has going for it, like a hell of a lot on internals for a small ship which makes it probably the best small ship for a number of roles.

Have the Devs indicated the ship 'will not change'?

If so, then fair enough, the OP should accept that.
If not, then the matter is not 'dead' and open for discussion.

I'm relatively new to the forums, but isn't the forums the place for discussion about changes?

You'd think so. I recently posted about a buff to the T9 because it is shockingly underpowered compared to the "big 3".
The Cutter makes the T9 completely obsolete but is behind a rank grind and a large credit wall which is easier to earn quickly for the latter.

On that post, I was actually surprised how helpful folks were and offering me their build to try. Very amicable and I'm grateful to those who may read this.

I know what you mean though. Any suggestions sometimes get met with fiery sarcastic comments and shot down quickly.

A 64 tones only cargo for an L landing pad only ship is shameful and ridiculous.

Clipper, one of my top 3 favorites.
OP describes Krait/Python basically.
We have those ships already, so I'm down with Clipper as it is. Variety is good, right?!
Btw, did you try g5'd ram/frag Clipper?!
Best pve murder boat I think.
And be careful not to end up in hostile ram/frag Clipper's line of boost/fire, not a good place to be, trust me 😉

It's the physical size of the wings, nacelles that are the problem, they won't go through the wee hole.

Already love the forums, I've found people to be very helpful. Of course there are always going to be those members that are negative, that's life and that is the sad state of mind that they are in at the time I guess (at that time they would rather say something negative than just discuss the topic) - you can still be positive and contribute to a thread, even if you disagree with something. (y)

Sometimes I just find myself questioning the negative approach (as I did above); if it ends up the person is just negative then I guess that's just the way it is (and some things may never change....(Bruce Hornsby and the Range)), but it certainly won't cause me any sleepless nights. :)
