Imperial Clipper Still Not Mass Locking

As the title states, the Clipper still causes no FSD disruption whatsoever.

FD has been doing some fantastic work, especially considering the 1.04 changelog with the matchmaking fix. Commanders everywhere!

But....

My ship of choice is the Clipper and I really would love to be able to use it for piracy. Please, guys! Toss in a factor 20 FSD disruption :( I can't imagine it's that difficult to implement especially since every ship in the game except the Clipper and the Python cause disruption.

Just out of curiosity... what ship did you try to mass lock?

It seems like the Clipper has no mass at all, in regards to mass locking. I swear, that even energy wakes will give you "mass 10 disruption"- every time i leave station, go outside the firing zone, start the "friendship drive" i get mass 10, even if there are no other ships at all!

Eagle will mass lock Clipper and Clipper will NOT mass lock an Eagle.

Im quite sure, that Clipper mass is 0.

I'm convinced it is related to the fact that the ship has no shadow, fly near a big station with a Star shining behind you, the shadow looks like a tiny ladder :/ Am surprised this hasn't been fixed..

Edit - that mass 10 bug you describe is definitely only on your end, have never seen that in hundreds of trips.

Once again people refusing to believe the evidence that is right in front of them, why does the Imperial Clipper seem to have no mass?

Because it is made of tissue paper, well ok maybe not paper but not much more than tin foil, even sunlight can pass right through it, so aside from supporting an economy based on slave labor you are getting ripped off as well.

You know it makes sense guys it is FEDERATION or ERADICATION !

The Adder I had only had the shadows of its components and not the hull.

So, the way that 'Mass Locking' from ships works isn't really about Mass Locking at all. It's about FSD Mass Disruption. Let's shed some light with a bit more detail to clarify.

Mass Locking only occurs when massive objects, like a space station, asteroid or capital ship are in close proximity to your ship (approx 5 km). This is indicated by the Mass Locked indicator on the right hand side turning on. While Mass Locked you are unable to even engage your FSD at all until you leave that region of influence.

Ships, on the other hand, cause FSD Mass Disruption when in close proximity to your own ship (less than 3km). A lot of people seem to think that the FSD Interdictor is what causes mass disruption, but they are deluded. The Interdictor has absolutely no bearing on Mass Disruption at all.

What does influence this disruption is the overall weight of your own ship. This means that potentially a ship with 128 cargo will cause MORE disruption than one that has 0 cargo, but really the biggest factor in this equation is the default weight of the ship which can be seen in the shipyard interface. I know for a fact that the Anaconda causes a disruption of factor 24 and its default mass is 400T. I also know for a fact that the ASP causes a factor 18 disruption and it weighs 280T. The factor of the disruption goes up as the mass of the ship goes up and is just a fancy way of saying "Charge the FSD slower the higher the number is".

I figure the Clipper (at 400T) and the Python (at 350T) should be somewhere bet ween the 18 of the ASP and the 24 of the Anaconda. Although the Clipper and the Anaconda weigh the same, I believe that a Best In Slot of both ships has a high variance. The Anaconda can potentially weigh a lot more.

Since I cannot Mass Disrupt my targets, I have 40 seconds to make them yield assuming my FSD Interdiction was done without them submitting. If I fail to do so then the mark can simply charge the FSD and be out in moments. Very un-fun for pirates who spent a pretty penny on getting a fancy ship.

Regarding reports of Energy Wakes causing disruption, these are largely unfounded in my experience. They cause no Mass Disruption.

That is an amazing theory, I just noticed my shadow was like a series of blobs in a disparate pattern last night coming into a station with the sun behind me. +rep

you sir are not using your clipper for piracy - you are using it for griefing. You interdicted a Type 7 and attacked with no warning, no request for cargo. Are you sir, so much of a coward you can only attack transporters?

It does not mass lock ships and is mass locked by smaller targets. Last time I was mass locked by NPC Viper :]

No wonder it has no mass as Clipper is NOT A SHIP! It is 9 dot vehicle flying in space connected by wires :D

It's not a bug on my end - other ships have proper shadows.

Zero mass is most issue of this ship...

... maybe it is not a but, maybe it is a feature - some kind of Imperial Cloacking Device :D :D

The clipper is restricted by factor 6 by sidewinders. IIRC factor 6 is when the restricting mass is equal to your own. One could test if the sidewinder is also restricted by factor 6 by the clippers.

Seems like copy paste fail.

Hahahaha That's what my Kingdom Hearts gummie ships always end up looking like. Just hardpoints/guns and a cockpit seperated out unconnected for max spread :T

Did you test this or did you make it up? I'm pretty sure there's a bit of code somewhere that says:

1) Look up in a table to see if my ship disrupts the other ship
2) If so, apply x disruptive mass penalty

I think it's as simple as that. As you say, Asp is 18, Type-6 is 14, and Cobra is 12. Maybe it's as simple as:

1) If my disruptive mass penalty is bigger or the same as yours, apply full penalty, otherwise don't.

I don't think cargo mass comes in to it. I've also tested with a ~190t Type-6 against a ~280t Cobra. The Cobra suffered disruprive mass, the Type-6 did not.

In any case, it's a rubbish implementation. The mechanic is a good one, the implementation kinda sucks. The fact it's broken for the Clipper also sucks.
