News Implementation of a dedicated mission server

I can hear it now "throw them a bone...yeah that one will do".

As long as the missions generated now are equal to what I would have got flipping the boards then hey wont see me moaning about it :p

Screw missions, screw bulk passengers that give 5 fake pluses, just murder controlling faction security forces, how many % players are doing that - 5,6% and still no dedicated murder server?

So between people saying that nobody plays the game any more and the 2.8% flipper figure, when someone claims that everyone is board flipping and it's necessary to play the game, we can just tell them that "nah, it's just you"? :D

In theory, yes... but as this thread has already proven, that 2.8% make far more noise than they represent and will forever deny the accuracy/truth/whatever of actual player statistics from Fdev, because reasons! This thread should feature as a living example of 90-9-1.

Greetings Commanders,

Even though there is a small number of players doing this, we will increase the credit payout of missions (by 10%) across the board so all players using the mission boards as intended will see a net profit. As a result of this, some mission reward choices will see boosted influence, reputation and rank gains. As always when it comes to missions, we will continually review and balance them where needed.

Ultimately, this is a healthy step for our overall servers and game experience.

If you have any questions or would like to share your feedback with us, please post below!

*we found that only 2.8% of daily online players were using the mission system in this way.

Will, increasing the payout by 10% will not solve the issues we have with the RNG mission board! For me CREDITS are not the main problem of the mission board!

We have to reduce the RNG factor to make it fun for the cmdrs. I must be easier to get the mission type you want in that moment - with a good payout and really needed MATERIALS as Bonus!

Awesome news, Will; great to hear. Long overdue for game balance, consistency, and gameplay progression opportunities, in my opinion. Not a fan of artificially handicapping myself in the game. Heck, maybe even one day we can get some sort of market place and buy traded Engineered modules instead of putting ourselves through convoluted and arbitrary meta progression in ways that just don't makes sense contextually for our Commanders. :D A guy can dream!

Only thing with having the boards the same across the bat is DRX guys will attest to this if your faction is giving you one mission only for days at a time then your pretty much buggered if your doing BGS as Missions are the heavy end of influence making more so if you have guys who don’t do B/H. So they really need to put a robust system where A. Mission spawn a little faster. B. It is a good mix of mission types to suit all types of play and ships , I wanted to push influence on a faction who was in danger of retreating from our system as it was a useful block from anyone trying to force their faction in to our home system but all it was offered for 5 hrs of pottering around and checking every time I docked was wing mining missions for 2k plus berty. Yeah not doing that on my Todd or with a wing. As long as it’s not a blind implementation and the Devs have a decent set up that takes into account of all players ( you know like the board filled for wing missions for Billy no mates in solo)

Who am I ? I'm not sure myself but give me half hour to do a google search and a witty response

I play with several other CMDRs in game and we've done a healthy number of wing cargo missions. They're rather pleasant, trying to outdo eachother/racing/navlocking etc. Good rewards generally, depending on the system type and commodity. The 'contribution' screen in the UI is nice too.

Can someone clarify what the 2.8% are relative to? For all we know it could just be relative to the number of copies sold.... so if you sell 1.000.000 copies but have 50.000 actively playing each day the 2.8% could be 28.000 (relative to a million) or 1.400 (relative to 50.000).

Exploiters always looking for the loopholes, it seems... ;)

First of all, thank you.

Yes. We need to be able to query the station for missions we -want in that moment-. I don't want to fill my 'conda/beluga to the gills, I just want to make it worth having a 'conda/beluga vs a cobra/dolphin without doing wing missions. Whats the point?

A welcome change for sure Frontier, but why not ditch peer to peer networking and put ED on a proper dedicated server the game's connectivity and stability would benefit so much as a result and with all those lep's and cosmetic sales I'm sure you could afford it.

Certainly a lot of work, maybe too much
