This is nothing breach releated, I suspect the HTTPS thing is an oversight. It has everything to do with GDPR which is a new European directive that dictates and determines how your personal data is stored and processed. There are some serious fines for companies that are non compliant and Fdev being a data controller(they determine what they need, how it's collected and how it's used) have a whole set of obligations which this is one.Hi , i am very concerned about this. If a bank was to contact you in same manner you would be reporting it. Has there been a massive security breach at frontier? Or is it just plain careless ness. There is no option on your dashboard or notification to do this so why should this be done? No explanations etc. As someone pointed out its not to a secure site. Anyone else concerned? Can we get more confirmation from other frontier mods? [where is it]
At the core of GDPR is the idea of Explicit Consent, which means you have to Opt in for companies to store your data rather than opting out if you don't.
What's happening here is that Fdev are asking for your consent to store and process your email address for the purposes of sending out a newletter. As a thank you for helping them they are offering some in game goodies.
If you do not opt in, Fdev will have to.. by law delete your information until such a point YOU decide you want them again.
if you are so inclined go here https://gdpr-info.eu/art-5-gdpr/
Fdev are being smart and getting this out there early. Expect similar mails and needing to give consent for all sorts of things from virtually every company in the next couple of months
