The current system for plotting routes is pretty good, but it doesn’t give the freedom I feel like a navigation computer should. Currently there are three settings (Economic routes, Fastest routes, and FSD injection) which are all mutually exclusive. Most notably, the option to include jet cone boosts in your plotted route can only be used with fastest routs.
What I propose, is instead of having three ‘package deals’ for plotting parameters, is a number of features that could be manipulated according to one’s desires.
Feature 1. Fuel Efficiency. This would allow you to set what percentage of your maximum jump range you actually want to utilize, and therefore jumps required vs. fuel efficiency.
Feature 2. Jet Cone Boost. This would be a simple button to say whether you want to use jet cone boosts.
Feature 3. FSD Injection. This would be a button to say whether you wanted to utilize FSD injections or not, and of what level. The route plotter would automatically detect how many injections you had available and of what levels, and plot accordingly. A message would come up in the HUD when it was time to use an injection.
Feature 4. Cargo Load. This would be the same as the current feature, allowing you to calculate a route while taking into account a given amount of cargo.
