In what order do assets change within a System?

And again good evening everyone o7

This post in the other forum made me wonder and hope we can compare experiences on the matter.

When you come into a System and fight for System control, it's always the most valuable asset / controlling Station that will fall to the victor. That much we've verified, all rock solid.

Now let's assume the NPC MF you got the controlling asset from has all the other assets in the System as well (Outposts, Stations, ground Ports).

We've had that scenario and experienced the following:

1. Controlling Station
2. Every Coriolis/Ocellus/Orbis closest to furthest from the 1st Star, then 2nd, 3rd etc.
3. Every Outpost closest to furthest
4. Every ground Port closest to furthest

What determines which ground Port is taken first if there are multiple present on the Planet is a big mystery still. I'd guess it'll be those sporting more facilities then others, but I was assuming that for the assets in space as well at one point and was wrong about it.

Your turn Ladies and Gents!

1. Controlling port
2. Highest value property -typically, but not always; Coriolis>Ocellus>Orbis>Planetary>Outpost>Bases

The value does not always correspond to distance to entrance, or even in that order of structural size.
I have had times the Outpost goes before Planetaries and vice versa.
Or an outpost 1k away from the star before finally making to the one 50 ls away.

Each system has a slight variation to it on how its done.

Ruling station is determined by a hidden pop stat according to fd many moons ago. This is moderated to ensure ruling asset is never on a planet.

Im wondering if other assets also change hands in order of this hidden pop stat.

Hm, interesting that.

One of our smaller Systems when being taken from the controlling MF sported the closest Outpost to the Star as the controlling one. Ignoring either of the two planetary Ports also being around.

I think we can safely assume though that whatever floats in space always comes before what is on the ground, at least for now. Or did someone have the experience that a ground Port was the controlling Station of a System?

If it's the only one in the System though that doesn't count ;)

Interesting info.

That could certainly be the case; then the determining factor is just which station has the most people for what's next.

Some systems were controlled by surface ports when 2.0 launched, it was changed as not everyone had horizons. This is a distant memory now, so I could be wrong.

Problem is with the pop theory is that unless that stat is revealed we will never know for sure. It could be a fuzzy assessment though. A station will be higher pop than an outpost. planetary is probably surface port and the settlements +++,++, + in that order.
