Here are a few bits of information on what you need to enjoy the game.
We have another thread giving the latest news here.
Current updates - Latest Info which is updated as soon as new info is released.
Alpha, Beta and Gamma Dates.
Alpha is now live, this will continue until Frontier decides that the game is ready to goto Premium Beta (1st stage), this is scheduled for early 2014 at the moment, but Frontier will announce details when they are ready to proceed.
Currently these are set as follows.
Alpha Phases 1.0 started December 2013 (£200) includes expansion pass
Game updates
Alpha Phase 2.0 started 4th Feb 2014
Alpha Phase 3.4 started 28th March 2014
Alpha access to cease 25th April 2014.
Alpha Phase 4 to start 15th May 2014
Alpha Phase has now finished.
Premium Beta Single Player started on the 10th April 2014.
Premium Beta Multiplayer started 30th May 2014.
Beta Phase Premium Beta (formally 1st beta) to start after Alpha has finished. (£100) includes expansion pass
Premium Beta access will finish on the 21st July 2014.
Beta Phase Standard Beta (formally 2nd beta) to start after Premium Beta (£50) Currently scheduled for the 29th July 2014
Gamma Phase to start after Standard Beta has finished. (£35)

Specs for Elite Dangerous
Direct X 11
Quad Core CPU ( 4 x 2Ghz is a reasonable minimum)
2 GB System Ram (more is always better)
DX 10 hardware GPU, 1GB video RAM(my reasonably low end machine has a GTX 285 with 2GB) Minimum video ram spec updated to 1GB.
Registering for the backer app.
When registering please remember to check the requirements for the captua code. It is not the full code but a section of it i.e the 1st 3 characters.

When you first register on the forum, it takes a little while for your access to certain areas to the forum to become active i.e the Alpha section; this usually takes about 24hours but as things are quite busy at the moment this can sometimes take a little bit longer. if after 48 hours you have not got access, email support@zaonce.net

Please check your details in the app and online store to ensure all your details are correct including the country you are in.
Support system.
Please note The support team are not in at the weekends, any issues raised should be dealt with on the Monday when they return; please remember that they tend to have a backlog on a Monday.

Beta Forum Access
Once you have purchased the Beta, Access to the relevant forum can take 24-48 hours if you don't see the forum appear in the forum front index please send a PM to Ashley Barley.
Differences between the original backers app and the new store
When the Kickstarter was running and until it closed in December 2013 the original backers app covered your pledge level and listed the associated rewards you had earned for backing during the Kickstarter campaign.
With the new store you are now only seeing your original pledge level, all the rewards are still stored in the original backers app with Frontier keeping records on your rewards and pledges.
As the rewards are no longer available to backers they can only back the game not receive the rewards that were offered during the Kickstarter.
As mentioned before the Kickstater rewards are still there in the original app and FD know what you are entitled to.
