Insurance - Please Turn Off

Insurance makes the game frustrating. Negatively affects the players.
Do you wish that people flee from this game?
Do the things easier.

Since promise to Offline mode is not fulfilled. My opinion is that you are subjected to the compromised agreement.

I'm confused. Do you mean no insurance at all...meaning you crash you lose your ship, hello sidewinder?

I think you mean we should just respawn, no harm, no foul. That is just silly, there must be consequences for failure.

I can't think of a game where you didn't at least lose something.

Wait, you don't want insurance? You want to lose it all on ship destruction? :O
Ironman mode is coming, just wait.

(Edit: Ninja'd by Monk. Hey, a Monk and a Bishop!)

If u are having a hard time staying alive, try solo for a while. or stay in cheap ships.

U can be 99.999% sure that insurance will stay in some form, so u better learn to live with it.

--------------

or do u meen ur so pro u do not realy need it at all, and will pay the ship in full ? ^^

I play very cautiously. They worry me more of this mysterious death.
I want to take Python, but I do not want to lose it all because of stupidity (I'm talking about bugs).
I think you'll agree here. If you are unable to exclude then to reduce the price of insurance in such circumstances.
My apologies for not being consistent in the first post.

Erm, not for sure. FD's comments on this have been cautious. But don't worry, you don't actually need a mechnical ironman mode. Just when you die, wipe your save. Voila, ironman mode without FD having to write a single line of code.

Uhmm. I'm not sure I even understand you. Could you please explain in more detail the exact issue?
afaik insurance is working fine?

I do wish the death penalty was a bit harsher. More like EVE's perhaps -- lose the ship, get the money payout for it but not ship -- you get a free sidewinder and have to go buy your ship and equipment again.

I liked that system, the current system leads to silly things like -- people just destroying their ship when they get to low armor because it is cheaper and just as quick to lose it / replace it than to pay the repair costs.

Oh okay...that does make some sense. Perhaps if they upped insurance coverage to 100% (pay nothing) until the worst of the bugs were resolved, particularly the collision bug, that wouldn't have been the worst thing.

However, that bug is fixed now, among others...

I think OP is saying that he wants the ship to respawn free, with no insurance cost. He is not advocating for a harsher death penalty but for a lesser one I think:

From the perspective of a player who is only playing online because the offline mode has been deleted, any loss on ship destruction is more than would have been the case with offline mode as there would have been the option to simply reload from the most recent save point, i.e. no loss at all - exactly as was the case in the original game.

I don't think my brain really works that way anymore, LOL.

Thanks for the elucidation. Can be tough to understand other people's perspective sometimes.

Play solo for a bit until you have the money to cover yourself , i know the feeling on not wanting to be killed by the bump and blow up bug as it's happened twice to me in open play , but in solo so far np but i'm recording all my game play now to be on the safe side , but its a pity that i feel forced to play solo to lower the risk of it happening, just to be on the safe side until they fix it i didn't mind playing open as a trader and liked it
until i started to randomly get blown up twice within 2 days docking ,
if it had been down to pvp or losing a fight with a npc , i wouldn't care as it would be my mistake , i just don't like it as its due to a in game bug

Ps @ monk ..thats not a bad idea about the 100% until they fix it , not worried about the cargo as its not to much of a pain to regriding it , but re kitting the ships out is a nightmare as it took 18ish hrs of just running seeking lux's to get my main ship back , but i was luckly as the seeking lux's and baille city that sold the items were only 20km away from each other but it was mind numbing as hell doing it

Repair costs are always less than the rebuy/insurance costs. If peeps are self-destructing to avoid repairs then they are fooling themselves.

I agree, remove insurance completely. Commanders should feel the consequences of their actions, if you die - pay the piper. Those that don't keep enough money on hand to cover their losses will be in for a harsh lesson.

It's the same code running in Open, Solo and Group, so if a bug exists, it exists in all places. Also you can be interdicted and killed in Solo and Group by nasty NPCs. :)

No one is reading the update thread, eh? :)

They will even pay you back when you lost your ship due to the bug (but you have to write a ticket).

Hi everyone,

update 1.1.02 is incoming at 4pm GMT. The servers will be down for up to 30 minutes during the update. The following changes are in the update:

Client changes:

- Collision damage tweak - Restore the check that prevented multiple lumps of damage from the same collision. Also make the damage split based on mass slightly more exaggerated
- Stop point defence turrets from targetting their parent ship's missiles/mines
- Fix issue with multiple controllers enabled and not recognising them all
- Fix matchmaking issue for comms when UDP hole punching fails
- Fix disconnect issue when a resend message is lost (fails and retries getting out of sync)
- Remove some unneeded telemetry in supercruise - it was causing some stutters

Server changes:

- Commanders with at least one Elite rank should receive a 2.5% discount at all shipyards and outfitting shops
- Backers who backed at the Founder level or above should receive a 2.5% discount at all shipyards and outfitting shops
- Faction recovery time from Civil War has been significantly reduced

Thanks

Michael

i argee about the code etc , but in solo you can at least take one of the possibilitys out of the equation that its down to a player in game and you didn't notice etc that's all,
also i've noticed not as much network lag or ingame juddering etc , since swapping over to solo but i'd like to go back to open when we know its fixed
and as i posted if i was killed in game via a npc etc ( and i have been on a navel rep mission)
i wouldn't care as that would be down to me cocking up , :)
