Interesting comment by DB about Stations

In the PS4 launch media circus :

“I think the last game I completed was perhaps Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture. It’s quite a strange, very relaxed game, but by the end I was desperate to know what was going on. I’d gotten a bit hung up on the strange number sequences you get during the game and avidly wrote them all down, but even after the credits I was none the wiser… On that note, though, we have numbered stations in Elite: Dangerous! You might want to write those numbers down.”

Do we all know this? Is it anything? Or is he just trolling?

Great, now I'm gonna have to fly around every single station before I dock looking for numbers.... Lol

There's probably an Easter egg code or something.
It probably spells "haha, made you look!" :p

Edit...Oh.. never mind :p

He's referring to number stations - transmissions of number codes that point to different things in the galaxy.

Sorry but I don't get it : I understand the difference between a numbered station (i.e: station UVX-568 ) and a number transimited by a station but I never saw that in game . So you are speaking of numbers that stations transmit ? To who ?

Well first we are going to have to discover these stations, I don't think they are neccessary the stations we dock at, they could be a satellite for example, probe, collect the numbers, break whatever code they have implemented then you know go in the direction they point us to.
I'm sure Frontier hasn't made it to hard, just their not enough of us explorers out their exploring and searching for these details, to many of us are waiting for it all to be handed onto a plate to us, probably why the missing remained undiscovered for so long, why we haven't found any of the rabbit holes that lead us on 2.3 storyline pieces yet.

If it's like the Formidine Rift, you'll have to wait a couple seasons before the secret is implemented in-game. ;)

Except the Formidine Rift was implemented from the beginning. They just didn't use a megaship as the asset but a normal anaconda.

Yes, I've found one of these "numbers" stations near a gas giant. There was an active discussion on decoding them several months back.

I have seen numbers on the outside of Coriolis stations and thought eh?

Is MB saying that there is another "thing" that transmits strings of numbers to decode? Or are these coriolis etc. part of another goose chase?

.

Ok thanks a lot for this explanation , that's very kind of you . Feel a bit more at ease with that. Time to go on the chase...

Really?? Sorry to question you but that's so not what he said ..

"we have numbered stations in Elite: Dangerous!"

Are you just referring to the beacons that transmit numbers at certain times? The ones that have already been used to locate other mysteries in the game?

It would be great to clarify this before it's too late (glances at forum and sees there's already 3 or 4 threads about DB's comment) --- oops, too late. :p

A new mystery perhaps?
