I remember Pong..not eve sure it would be considered a console.. so.. First Console was an Atari 2600, first PC was a TSR-80... if you wanted to play a game you programmed it into the computer and saved it on a cassette tape.
As for the point of this thread... there was no "hatred" in it.. if there is now it was brought by the one asking the question.
Edit... on Pong sister and I got reaaaaaly good at getting the ball to bounce between the bars and that is how we saved the games while we went and ate lunch or dinner or so.

I remember spending many a night playing Elite around '94/94, no internet, just a lot of flying and sometimes dying, I would get slagged because most of my mates 'didn't get it', and played Batman or something on their Spectrum 128k. Now, nearly a quarter of a century later, I'm on this, and the love is still there! Only now we have real people to deal with!
