Interesting point of view from a long time ED Streamer on Fleet Carriers

i would not rule out that they learned from the experience and try to get that right on the next opportunity.
I would rule it out. They've never given the slightest indication that they're even remotely unhappy with how PvP works in this game. DB has been on the record talking about the toxic atmosphere in other PvP-centric games. Truth be told, I think David Braben is the carebear of all carebears.

That's ok too. Carebears like playing games too. They should have games that cater for them. I think other game developers might look at this game and learn from it though.

To be brutal all its showing is how utterly irrelevant PVP is, you have to tell people exactly where you are and then both agree to meet up at a certain time or you'll never see each other.

I'd turn up in speed build courier with an interdictor and no weps just for a laugh.

And if couple of forum members will be there, just to look at the duel, the duelists will probably never meet at the same instance.... :)

Haven't read the forums posts, just finished watching the entire video..

What I see is a player frustrated with Frontier, saying it how he feels it. To address some points;

The story telling is PP. True

The patch notes are PP. True

The rule sheet is non-existant. True. Though I do feel here, frontier themselves don't know what they're creating. Always seems to me like there are disjointed teams developing disjointed ideas and then releasing them.

Multiplayer is PP. True. I'm guessing this is due to limitiations in the game engine, the net code and the abilities in house at frontier.

The FCs. I think frontier would have lost many more players by not making them player based than squadron based.

ARX. Pile of doo doo

I know this will sound rude but there is no way to church it up, why do we need them to come back? Who cares? The chap in the video, he kept repeating stuff about veterans not playing. Big deal. They played the game, didn’t like it then stopped playing it. The game seems to have continued without them. What is so special about them?

The same thing that's special about you the newer players. Nothing!

We both Friended and Winged up. I dropped at his wing beacon and the fight commenced. CenturionPuch won handily. Where is the discussion at now?

You've proven PVP is optional as without you both working to make it happen it wouldn't have.

The same place it was before. I proved I know the game better so my arguments weight more.
I know people that knew about this game lot more than I do and I know the reasons why they don't play anymore. I know because they told me.
I know if BGS/PP was open only, even with the current limitations the game would be lot better. I know it would bring good players back and it would attract more people than the screenshot crowd. I don't much care about the Fleet carriers, I don't care who can have it. Their implementation such way only shows the path FD is taking with the game and I don't like that path.
This is where the argument is.

Yup. In the same place as we were. You spouting ludicrous notions and no one's opinion has changed. PvP to the rescue, huh?

It would be a lot better to someone who only sees direct PvP as the goal. To others, that is completely superfluous. The game caters to a wide crowd, and you are just part of one crowd. Nothing more. I'm certainly not convinced that you know more than me about the game, just that you have won the fight.

Claiming you know the game better because you blew up another ship is like claiming to know relativity better than Einstein because you can count to 10 quicker.

Hmm, I am living at the part of the Galaxy where is no Power Play (thanks God) and I am trying to be friendly with all "normal" local factions. And I can do all this in Open/Solo/PG so no problem here. I really do not know why the BGS should be limited to Open only. BTW, it is not technically possible, but you probably know this. :)

I certainly know more about how to build a ship and how to fly it. Otherwise I wouldn't have won.
I most likely know more players of this game from inside the game since I'm not in a 1 man squad and I'm not paranoid about the friend list.
I'm also triple Elite while you're not.

BTW I plan to go mining tonight and I kinda wish I'd get jumped so I can see if my mining ship is good enough running away.
PvP should not be the goal but the tool in achieving real goals. solo/pg interference in BGS and PP is what deprives us from these goals.

That is one of the most epic logic fails this forum has ever seen. You proved you are better at optional PvP (your chosen focus) than he is, which has absolutely no bearing on your knowledge of the overall game vs his knowledge of the overall game. It says nothing of either of your knowledge about the intricate workings of the BGS or PP, both of which are far more relevant and completely disassociated in pretty much every way from PvP. Congratulations, you can react and move your fingers faster than someone else.

Here's a relevant analogy for you. My twelve year old son can whoop me in solo vs solo combat in Fortnite, but my win ratio puts his to shame - I play differently, I use different taftics, but damn are his reflexes fast - not just his twitch, but his ability to spot things and see multiple targets. So who knows more about the game, him or me? The same can be said for most of the games we play together, he's great at combat, but that says nothing about other aspects of the game.

As for ED, all you need to excel in PvP is credits, engineers, and committing time to honing combat skills. There is absolutely no need to ever engage with the BGS or PP (except to briefly weapon shop), nor is there a need to ever learn anything about trade, mining or exploration (credits can easily be earned from mission running). All you've proven is you are better at PvP, which in no way reflects your knowledge or skill in any other aspect of the game.

As for the statements about what you know - as laughable as your logic train.
