Internal Styling of Ships By Manufacturer

We've already heard that ships from different manufacturers will be visibly different in terms of external styling, but what about internals and specifically the HUD?

There are a number of design choices in the HUD at current where there are graphical and/or textual representations; it would be great if each manufacturer had their own design choices so for example one of them used the current supercruise panel and another used the one which was available in PB1. It would be another factor for people to consider when they were looking at a ship, and another way of making your choice more than just about number of hardpoints and cargo capacity.

I like the idea of manufacturer tweaked HUDs. Not a huge amount of difference, just little stylings or touches to give a ship individual character.

As for the rest of the cockpit designs, I'm already very impressed with how individual they feel. The sidey feels very budget, the Eagle very spartan and military, the cobra that bit more comfortable and executive.

And the Hauler is a space Transit van. I wish I could get a copy of the Lave Sun for the dash.

The cockpits already are vastly different in styling. There is really nothing that could be improved there.

The HUD though is personal software! The pilot carries it with him. The ship just hooks up with your personal HUD software and feeds it the info you need.

It is said you will be able to customize HUD colors in the future. A dev has said so in a thread somewhere. And there is even a pic that shows different HUD colors.

It would be great if we could also move certain elements of the HUD around in the future, or enable/disable certain elements. Don't know if that will happen. For me personally being able to freely choose colors for my HUD is the priority. I would love to try out some soft cool hues of blue or green.

Seems good ingame logic to me.

I like the idea of personalising the hue of the cockpit HUD, like we can the transparency, I want an Evertonian Royal Blue hue to mine! :D

Yeah should have mentioned that I was thinking specifically about the HUD here.

I suspect that having complete freedom of HUD elements will be too much effort for Frontier to work on, at least initially, but as you say if the HUD software is for the pilot not the ship then yeah I can see why it won't be different each time you have a different ship.

Yep, not different for every ship, but.... it would therefore make even more sense if it could be somewhat personalized per commander.
That way a commander could have his preferred layout and color scheme for every ship he pilots.
On the other hand it would not make much sense being able to move the core piece of the HUD, the radar screen, to the side for example. I think nobody would feel that would be very useful. So FD should not put too much energy in that kind of useless customizations. But being able to customize the colors of the HUD is a must have I feel.
