Went to the zoo in the Australian capital territory yesterday, the setup was amazing and the grounds really well maintained. Sorry only phone photos.

I was surprised they had Sri Lanka leopards.

At least it wasn't a pack of rabid Bigfeet, living on scraps and attacking campers in the middle of the night

Never seen a coyote personally so I'm not too sure. I'm going by my family's description of what it looked like and how rural the sighting was to say its a coyote. This was seen on the outskirts of a hunting area known for its moose, deer and coyotes. Also its definitely not a wolf as they are not found in the New Brunswick region.

Some searching on color variations show a darker coat very similar to what a German shepard looks like. Doesn't help are both very similar size for a first time sighting.

Could be a hybrid. I've seen coydog hybrids, and once a coywolf. It seems too dark to be a full blood coyote, but I could be wrong

It could also be feral. Up in the farm, I've seen dogs that have escaped and formed their own packs. I once saw a pack of feral dogs ripping up an armadillo carcass; I didn't get close, but I was also on the 4-wheeler, so I had that to my advantage in case they got too close

I know how many times I’ve said this in these forums, and I’ll say it once more:

Eastern Coyotes are mainly coyote, but do have small amounts of domestic dog and wolf genes. It is one of the only widespread hybridized subspecies. I have seen coyotes like this with similar markings, but this one does look to have a little more black in it than usual. It could have a larger amount of dog genes than wolf or coyote.

Participated in a bird banding and observation field trip to Cleland Wildlife Park today, it was a lot of fun. Our main target was superb fairywren (top), which have been studied in the park since 2008, but we also caught quite a few white-naped honeyeaters, crescent honeyeaters (bottom left) and New Holland honeyeaters (bottom right).

Of course, being in a wildlife park, I couldn't help getting distracted by all the captive animals too...

Only photos I took with my good camera were still of wild animals though, namely the first eastern snake-necked turtle I've seen this year (out for some reason on a cold windy day) and a gang of rainbow lorikeets at a feeder.

Y'all, I just had an encounter with a coyote.

I'm in the country, and it's my job to take the trash out to the front, which requires vehicle use; in my case, it's the 4-wheeler, because it's SO MUCH FUN.
Anyways, on the main road going to the very front of the property, I see this dog walking around. At first, I thought it was either a fox or a dog, because it was small. As it got closer, it was a coyote. And let me tell y'all, he wasn't scared. He was maybe 20 ft. away from me, standing on a log and watching me. We stared at each other for a few seconds, before I decided to keep going. But man, of all the times I didn't have my phone to take a picture, now was the worst. It would've been the coolest pic ever, y'all, and now I'm gonna remember to take my phone everywhere to snap a surprise pic

Well I wasn't too sure because the field I found it in (which is our neighbor's so I technically trespassed but they don't care) has/had cows, and at 1st glance a cow skull looks similar to a boar. But then I saw the grooves where the risks would be. Not sure if imma leave it at our house up here or take it back to Houston. I think it'll be better here, though

So I commented before on the forum, in summer is tarantula's season where I live, But summer is over and well, I took my Pitbull+Golden Retriver puppy out and he trying to hunt something and this was:

Obviously I stopped him and didn't kill it but it was a really big scorpion, about the size of a regular hand, now that tarantula season is over, the scorpion one has started lol
There are a lot of scorpions now

Btw this is my puppy if you are curious, and you want to see how a pitbull and a Golden Retriver are crossed, the most hilarious cross breed haha
