Is ED nearing the end of its lifespan?

It's absolutly dying, nobody cares about it, nobody is interested in it.. and OA can get anything up to three videos a week on that one subject.

A bit like the Daily Mail and Princess Diana.

I've been assuming all this time that you're one of those Twitch girls. Don't you dare try to tell me otherwise!
I won't disillusion you...

My take is that FDev are still trying to 'turn the supertanker around', as Braben has put it (4m40s).

I've no idea whether that's ultimately achievable, but I think that's what they're still trying to do.

I'm basing this mainly on their statements to the market. IE stuff like this:

Guess we'll see if ED tanks along, or ends up wallowing in an oil spill ;)

(FWIW, my money would be on some fun stuff coming this year. But whether that can juice the game up enough to ensure significant further work is still up in the air I'd say ¯\(ツ)/¯ )

"The super tanker is pointing nearly in the right direction.."
What does that even mean?

"My T10 hit an asteroid, there's forum PvP all around me, and I'm turning for home with no pips in ENG..."

"Wish me luck!"

Who knows man. But guess we'll find out where the supertanker's heading this year. Maybe it's somewhere nice, like Marbella? ;)

The difference I’ve seen in exploration is pretty significant; last time I played before my recent return was exactly as you describe. Honk the horn, and point at a feature for a while.

Exploration and a wide variety of other game systems seem vastly improved. Engineering materials come in threes now, and are much easier to find, and upgrades aren’t so random. NPC AI is better, and the engineered vs non-engineered NPCs are more regulated so you can tailor you experience to your ship’s capability better.

I know this is all old hat for most on here, but sometimes it’s easy to take for granted all the progress that has been made. With the benefit of the last 4 years off, it’s pretty substantial.
Yes, absolutely, the massive number of quality of life features alone makes me stop and go "wow, they really did good" when I play now. People complaining should go see the game we had in 1.0. It was pretty bare.
