Is elite still sparsely populated with cmdr’s?

Who cares about Eve? Its a toxic mess
The reason we are here is because it isn't Eve

O7

Yeah I read up on EvE before I purchased ED, the toxic gameplay if you just wanted to quietly fly around, and the enormous sums of real actual money it required to get anywhere in the game turned me off.

The question is Cosmo, if EvE Online is such a great game, why are you here? What is it about ED that attracts and what is it about EvE that repels you?

"Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space."

Also, timezones.

Also, I don't understand why some people constantly call for making this game like <insert game name here>. Do people really want to have all their games have the same feature set and gameplay? How boring is that? If you want to play EVE, go play EVE. If I want to play a round of virtual billiards, I fire up Virtual Pool instead of constantly crying for a snooker table in my carrier's ready room.

I left ED 4 years ago, because the game was empty of other players.
Is the ED universe more populated now?
Are the players still seperated in Odyssey and horizons, Xbox etc seperated from pc players. I think there was even something called legacy.
in other words which part of the game should I try in order not to be the only cmdr flying around.
When I do pvp piracy play sessions i usually find several clients within an hour, in fact last time in and around sol was more than that. The best time is around 9pm GMT.
Edit: I’m talking about Odyssey, which I have found to be far more populated than the others.

Easy now mister moderator. I know you think this is a bad opinion - but its perfectly valid to have it. Your crusade is getting out of hand.
Of course it is valid to hold an opinion, and every forum user is equally free to express their opinion (subject to Forum Rules) - no-one requires to share the same opinion though.

.... the "crusade" has been going on since the game design was published, and Frontier still haven't caved in to the demands of those "crusaders" who don't agree with the way the game is implemented.

Oh great, now you've said it it will never go away, in 10 years time we will still have people demanding a snooker table in the ready room, you do realise that's how this works right?
Nah!
Everyone remembers Star Cops* so they know how easy it is to rig the table and cheat in no gravity environments.

*What do you mean you don't https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Cops

Found this while messing around with map tools, but I can't tell how accurate this is, so I can't tell OP if this is a valid gauge?

Edit: seems to be some years ago.

ED is a small fry in comparison to EVE.

People like to dismiss EVE, but they made good game design choices which explains why EVE is still thriving after 20 years.
Yawn....

Oh well, you are obviously aware of which game you prefer to play, so whay are you here instead of discussing tactics etc. on the Eve forum?

ED isn't likely to change to "Eve with cockpits" in the forseeable future, so if Eve's gameplay is preferable, you have no reason not to be playing, surely?

If you want to play with other players your best option is probably to find an active player group that focuses on a type of gameplay you like and is awake in your timezone, and find people to meet up with that way.
And to expand on this, you either need to also be geographically near each other or on the same VPN. According to Inara, there were 560 commanders with accounts in Deciat in the last 24 hours. When I visited during prime time about a month ago, I saw five others. Early this morning local (noonish for Western Europe) I saw nobody.

There are less players now than 4 years ago - but at chokepoints there should be enough players assuming you get Odyssey and play in Odyssey.
Esle, i would assume that Legacy is quite deserted

Obviously in the bubble, around CG systems (if any CG is running), Shinrarta, or PP capitals

Inara can provide some info with its crime and traffic reports
