Is it normal that players can safely kill everyone on Planetary Outposts?

Valid it may be, but ramming somebody to death on the landing pad is extremely lame. Where is the skill in that? Give me somebody who jumps me and shoots me down, any time. But a rammer? C'mon. What's next? Asking a one-legged dude to participate in a kicking contest...?

When I arrived at Long Sight Base one player killed me. After the second docking attempt, I was killed by his friend. They rammed everyone who flew in and the base's weapons were apparently destroyed. This is how they answered my question

I can recommend the PG's of Fleetcomm or Mobius. Fleetcomm's is more populated nowadays though.

Depends what you mean by "normal".

It's common within ED.

Whether or not it's behaviour that might be considered "normal" is a whole other can of worms...

😖

What would be hilarious is if gankers lost system permits depending on the controlling faction, but could still supercruise to the systems (something we can't currently do in the game, but I'd like if we were able to), so technically not banned and still able to progress in the game.

The interstellar salt discharge would make for a glorious nebula around the bubble. :giggle:

What is normal?
To occasionally fantasize about depravity but quickly lose interest because you aren't actually a sycophantic, narcissistic psychopath. Or at least that's what I imagine.

I couldn't even make it through watching the first couple seasons of Game of Thrones, so maybe I'm the abnormal one.

Disclaimer: I'm not meaning to imply people who overall enjoy playing this game as gankers are by any necessity sycophantic, narcissistic psychopaths, just that since presumably most people aren't, it would make sense to me that they generally aren't interested in playing the game as gankers.

Naturally, YMMV. And it's relevant to note that while some are heavily invested in the game, the game's pageantry is still fantasy, of course, and not everyone cares to fantasize about the same things, normal or otherwise.

I don't block people much at all, but rammers... gone. I don't care one whit how much it messes up their instancing.
But what if we have a legit reason? Tonight we were creating a blockade at the burning stations because we want the empire to burn and everyone trying to save the station killed, so naturally we had to ram some people so the station wouldn't kill us. I died immediately afterwards but it was worth it.

So the stations I see a legit reason for, but my question always has been why pull new guys out of SC when they're going to do their first engineering, or ram them? I mean I have no problem with going and grabbing a mega shield ship and slamming you to the ground, but for new players that don't even realise they're in open, since it literally just drops you in open.

My buddy found this out and switched over, for my first 100 hours I flew in open and was only killed twice by players, once my buddy and I stupidly pulled a cutter a out and he rammed him to death, while I just dodged and fired away, the guy actually let me practice which was really cool at the time, I wish I had added him then. The other one was someone pulling me in decait and me just dodging like a maniac trying to get away, but I was fresh out of the barrel pretty well at that point.

I agree, I think it's absolutely bonkers that you can gank someone at an Engineer base, fly up into Orbital Cruise, drop back down, be back at the base less than 1 minute later, and it's like nothing happened.

Sure, I mean, you'll have a bounty, but the base is just like "Welcome CMDR! Make sure to submit a docking request!" when not even 60 seconds before it was full armed response.

It's rather immersion breaking, to be honest.
True
Wait.... Was this me? I was killing random players at long sight base with Star Fox yesterday
oh dear... you and Starfox over an engi base is no fun for the gankee.

To avoid getting ganked at a planetary base requires nerves of steel and a very good build.
Can't simply highwake. Perhaps time for gank evasion 2.0 planetary boogaloo?

Because everyone dies, new and experienced alike. Just fair and balanced as all things should be.
I ganked an elite Anaconda that nearly killed me and a mostly harmless Cobra just tonight. All die. None are safe.

Most players in Deciat aren't noobs. Just because Farseer is the first engineer most unlock doesn't mean everyone in Deciat are new players.

One got away, using a courier
I'm actually wonder if the OP was the guy in the courier. We killed him the first time then he got away the second time.
