Is there a reason not to buy an Anaconda?

As good as the 'Annie' is at some things, it really does have an awful cockpit view, good luck trying to see anything under you. it makes planetary landings considerably more nerve wracking than they need to be.

I don't find it all that bad, it's certainly better than the Corvette, but that's to be expected. It probably helps quite a bit to be using something like TrackIR or VR though, since it makes looking 'around' any obstructions trivial enough you don't even realize you're doing it.

When it comes to planetary approaches, I've found my standard solution (in any ship) is to approach inverted, and I'll maintain that attitude until the glide phase, at which point I'll roll upright for final approach and landing. Landing itself usually isn't much of a problem, though I probably take more time/care than most when setting down.

If you're more the 'zip in with your hair on fire and slam it down anywhere' sort, something with a more Lakon type of view is probably more your style. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, sometimes that's (literally) the approach I feel like using. I just rarely do it in the Anaconda.

It's one of the main reasons I barely use the ship.

Do anything that involves a lot of SC travel and the Anaconda quickly gets rather annoying compared to most other ships in the game. This was more of an issue before the FSS, but is still a concern.

Not saying it should be changed, but it's the single best mechanical reason not to use the ship.

Dropping out in front of a Star you didn't know was going to be a White Dwarf is genuinely terrifying in a T9 or Cutter.

Other than that SC handling never bothered me with any ship

Just looks too good to be true, jump conda, battle conda, trader conda.

If it’s in budget is there a reason to look else where!

thanks in advance
Due to bad fore sight your pigeon holed bcuz of "lack of ship choice" the anaconda IS your starter ship! Has all the space necessary to survive in the void...meaning it can prospect and battle at the same time the way it should be. Which allows you to start enjoying the game instead of wishing I could just have space so I can play the game with a visually pleasing vessel.

I broke my self imposed rule of only one of each ship this weekend. I already had a swiss army knife search&rescue toolbox Conda, but made an AX shardboat from a second one for the CG.
