It's been a week!

...Since I last boosted into a station wall and.. Um... Exploded.

To mark the occasion, last night upon my first docking at a space station, I hit the boos tbutton instea dof reverse thrust button when flying through the letterbox in in brand new Python.

Yeay me!

I did a pretty good job of flipping around and throttling up, thus reducing my splat damage, so I only destroyed 93% of my hull, and broke my canopy.

Seeing the repair bill, I was not altogether sure whether I woul dhave been better off just letting it explode and buying a new one!

Anyway, at least it's still been a week since I destroyed a ship by accidental boost...

I have never, not even once when I first started playing, destroyed my ship by accidentally boosting. I don't actually understand how this keeps happening to people. Like, do you just flail wildly and slam your hand on every button at once? I don't get it. I've bumped into stuff before but never hard enough to destroy whatever I was flying, and never because I mashed on the boost button when I meant to do something else.

I use an xbox controller for flying and B used to be boost until I did the same thing as OP.....twice. Now my B button is set for 75% engine speed & if I want to boost I have to use my keyboard. Makes much more sense :)

Tends to be when my cat jumps on my lap. or nuzzles my throttle hand.

Actually, the solution is to drop landing gear, then boost doesn't boost...

I like where my binding are for combat. still, I should probably re-bind my landing gear...

For me, it was simply an involuntary muscle memory twitch...*splat*

Most of the time it's one of my cats decided to nuzzle my throttle hand at the worst moment, other times, it's because I have been alt tabbing or doing something else whilst docking, and putting my hand on the throttle in the wrong position.

All my own fault, of course...

Zee, lols, practice scoop boosting, it will save your life. :)
Scoop boosting:
Boost > deploy cargo scoop (retards momentum) >F/A off > maneuver > retract cargo scoop > F/A on.
Best hairpins. If this becomes second nature you wont hit the back wall ever again.

Interesting - my cargo scoop binding is kinda out of the way, may have to do some binding changes and give this a go... Could be fun in combat...

Assign boost to a switch, on the wall, in the next room, thus ...
