Bye then.
yes but does the game ever link or mention it? I can't remember this anymore, so its just up to googling if one exists, and given that many games don't have any anymore, people would usually not xpect such a thing to exist. We were speaking about general handholding at all. And too many games that don't come out for console don't have manuals anymore.
Still the active tutorials of the game, are lacking alot stuff. Tbh, it would be great if FD had done soemthign that GTA III SA did with the driving school, that would have eben a good way of introducing basic controls + complex and challanging tasks.
The game may suffer from "Elite doesn’t really have designers who understand people." I don't want to comment on this and I'm not sure if that's even relevant. At the end of the day I'm eager to see their visions and certainly not those of the community. What I do know what the game suffers from is too many players not understanding the game. Which of course doesn't keep them to behave like mothers of invention themselves.
Ha-ha-ha!
Justified criticism aside (=the criticism I agree with), that's because they bought the wrong game. You just need to take a look at steam reviews to find out. The majority of bad reviews is written by people who struggled to create a game account and if they succeeded they failed to launch their ship even though the game tells them how.
Long gone are the days where games didn't hold their players hands, like Jagged Alliance, the first Rainbow Six games, etc. People expect their games to be like Call of Duty. They need a tutorial that shows them how to run forward. Elite is a niche game for players of the past and that's a good thing since there are plenty of alternatives for people who are easily satisfied.
That said, the game is still far from perfect and it sometimes does seem like FDEV doesn't manage to understand their players.
Players might not understand the game, but 11'000 players understood that they want to be part of a great exploration journey into the unknown.
What they got delivered by the developers is the chance to explore the star system next door 12 ly away.
I have to wonder again: Who doesn't understand their game?
Something tells me that it was a hope that mirrored that of a hobo 'hoping' todays dumpster scrapings were slightly more fresh and flavorful than that of yesteryear...I think the whole Gnosis thing was badly handled / almost incompetent. On the other hand I wonder who seriously expected some unique, awesome, exploration gameplay added within a few weeks just because some people asked for it.
I agree, but I think the last part is important here, when it is not about new players who aren't used to games not holding hand. The tutorials are a different topic I think.
What's funny, is the fact that these discussions come up again shortly before Q4 is being released instead of waiting for what's in store for us when it drops.
Elite certainly didn't deliver much of the content I would have liked to see. So far there were a few treats, but mostly there was weapons to play with, and I rather do that in other games.
In terms of how the game is going, and where it's going, I think this year was pretty important. Beyond was said to be about going back to the basic features of the game and to further develope the underdeveloped features like exploration, trading, mining. I am under the impression, there was again a problem with communicating exactly what's gonna happen, because otherwise people might not have been so disappointed. I for one was looking forward to the Q2 and Q3 because I thought, even if this were small updates, that they would deliver some content of said improved basic features and finally some exploration content perhaps. But they mostly didn't.
You might argue that the Guardian structures are exploration content, but apart from looking awesome their purpose gameplaywise was unlocking mostly new weapons to fight Thargoids. What peope where expecting, was new mechanics I think. That's what I was hoping for. The only thing close to this was the ability to scan megaships and structures.
So my hope is, that Frontier just didn't communicate clearly enough that the small updates wouldn't be in line with the real purpose of the Beyond series, but just content drops of other things inbetween while they are working on the real stuff for Q4. And with "real stuff" I don't necessarily mean a whole new game on top of what we have, but mechanics forming a foundation for different gameplay to what we have now. What they showed off for mining, for example, looks awesome in my opinion.
That said, I will wait until Q4 until I have an opinion about Q4, the direction of the game and if Frontier did get what players want or not. In any case, I think all the rage and insulting complaints are contraproductive and Kindergarten behavior. You don't riot against people who created something you like, unless you want them to stop supporting it. To come up with a little melodramatic example: If the rioting mob manages to finally kill the ruler of the kingdom they live in, there will be another ruler and life goes on. Videogames just stop if the devs are being dethroned.
Agreed 100%. This calls for a Community Counsel!!
*flee*
It's shocking how you fail to understand even the most simple points.
Fortunately for you, your attitude on here is protected by the liberal moderation policies of the very company, game and people who made it that you detest, insult and ridicule.
Lucky huh?
First, my time in game and money spent gives value to my opinion, if you want to be a brazen at, fine, I’m writing this for those that were disappointed as I was, pointing out that it’s not really a bug/ coding problem- although I am at the California D center.
So, anyways, devs didn’t realize that after 11,000 (78% unhappy) players do “everything right” , follow the rules, hand in hand with the development team they won’t enjoy the resulting failure, regardless if there were clues, or the Lore Demands it. Running a game community means understanding people. %78 of 11,000 Commanders were pretty irked, and for what purpose? Crushing Cannon’s rebel spirit!? saving developer face after erring to lock out all the intended systems?
Right, like there’s going to be some earth shattering reveal unlocked from the permit restricted areas that will be a new. 2001: a Space odyssey, a new X-Files, Triffids, Star Trek— look at powerplay, it is a soap opera at best, and the Pizza Mushrooms are not going to become more than an ‘on paper’ cutscene narrative without introducing character animation and ‘space legs to the game.
So if in a year that’s what Elite has in its sights, great.
Right now the $ spent by Frontier relative to the amount of time players spend in the game metric is ridiculous and the quality of game play and content is suffering . Great for short term FDEV:LN profits but not a long term win if Bethesda’s StarField and Star Citizen and No Mans Sky and X4 are already ahead. And if it is the best path to profit—— it still sucks for gamers...
Why exactly? Since when was the Gnosis jump into a permit locked area ever going to not involve drama? For someone who claims to be so in touch and knowledgable of maybe lore or how FDev want to present the game, you seem to have missed the entire point. The area was long believed permit locked as it was home to an alien race... much like other permit locked areas of the galaxy. My Commanders spirit and trust also was broken by GNosis bungle, ruse, puppetry.
Now I just play for relaxing, prepaid vr time, no more “lore/ narrative” it’s just a game run by some people who are a bit over their head or underfunded- not my problem to solve.
So hope I am proven wrong, it was a bizarre ride so far...
Irony overwhelming. Experience does show that I do know my way round "simple" things though - some, most, even exhibit plentiful and often entertaining reactions to applied stimuli. Exhibit A:
I detest their consistent incompetence, deliberate lies and empty promises. No longer interested in "exciting" future stuff. If Hello Games can deliver with 10-15 people then I expect FDev to deliver AT LEAST as much with 100. Not another 5 years from now, but now! And I don't mean more CGs or paintjobs (regarding the latter apparently straight lines are now endangered species). They are STILL to finish the game that THEY set out to do.
A community council would be fine as long as everyone agrees that I am the president.
Well, guess who is not part of the council?
