Community Event / Creation Journey to the California Nebula

After making enough cash, I decided to take a trip to get up close to a nebula.
.
After looking around I bought a sidewinder (so I could get some nice screenshots), upgraded it to have a reasonable jump distance and set off for the California Nebula from Idini - some 1400ly distance.
.
.
This is where I was aiming for after a few hundred ly. ;)

This is much closer, from system NGC 1514 SECTOR EW-W DI-8

Until eventually I reached close enough, in system CALIFORNIA SECTOR KH-V C2-4 :D

I haven't yet returned from the area, so if you would like another angle on the nebula, let me know. :cool:

From the edge of the nebula, in system CALIFORNIA SECTOR JH-V C2-9, the nebula fill half the sky.
And looks like this.

And from inside the nebula, in system CALIFORNIA SECTOR BA-A e6, you can see the nebula colouring all surrounding space in red cloudy clumps.

Found that system, CALIFORNIA SECTOR IR-W D1-27, requires a permit.
.
.
.
I wonder why a system that far from populated space might need a permit? :S :D
