So I finally did it and got the Buttkicker 2, received it a couple days ago. Have to say it is more then I expected and loving it. It reminds me a lot the vibration and noises that a ferry makes every-time I go to the mainland.
This and VR makes it awesome.

I can see that thing breaking from stress failure quite easily. Not worth almost $200.00 to me.

It's actually well built and a solid unit, I'm impressed with it.
Like you I have reservations about getting one and now 3 or for years later I got it. Works really well on my chair, its nice when you fell the ship engines or even when a ship soars right by you and so on. It adds immersions.
