Amazing, again.
Just like the original you can't help but fall in love with everything, even down to the smallest little gust of wind it's just so ****** playful that it's a joy to play from start to finish. The new variations in setting were good (though I wasn't a massive fan of the Melodia City) and Winter/Summer was beautiful to see. The new characters were brilliant, the Oloua have got to be one of the most fantastic little peoples I've seen in a game, they're so cool. The Melodia again I wasn't so keen on but they were nicely weird. Toku's mother was just
I'm amazed how well they carried of the little cutscenes, something as simple as Toku holding his mums hand was just so touching and the turning to stone scene that is actually the closest to crying a game has ever taken me
A couple of slightly negative points
- Magmok, after a brilliant cameo I was disappointed to see him not reappear, would have been lovely to see him smash through a rock fall once or twice or help bridge a canyon.
- The new power, it's lifting ability was kind of redundant after I remembered the cape and slip stream combination from LW1. The drilling was ok, the rain thing is pretty inspired but was a little underused perhaps.
- Winter/Summer switch, this was a little flat, aside from the aesthetic appeal it didn't seem to have a lot of impact on the gameplay.
- The final boss, good but not a patch on the simplicity and coolness of the Magmok fight in LW1
I know there's a few of them but really only tiny tiny little niggles.
Otherwise I absolutely adored it, there was no direct lead onto the next game like there was with LW1, I really hope there is going to be another because this is my favourite new IP to come from this generation so far.
Hopefully the wait to a 3rd installment, if there is another one, won't be too long because I absolutely adore this series.
