Newcomer / Intro Just got a new boat..

Introducing MSS Wake Rider in Prestige Orange. Just hopped over to the neighboring star and brought her home. Wow, what a nice ship this Dolphin. Still have to outfit her with all the goodies needed for comfortable passengers and I guess I'll need a commander's suit in black with a bus driver's cap to fit the image she's projecting. It sure flies nice in this one trip back home so hopefully she'll make me a buttload of credits to splurge on other things that capture my interest.

Yeha, congrats. Dolphin is a great boat. Love the cockpit which gives you a taste of what to expect in her bigger sisters and she sounds great. :)

Thanks and thanks... I have one more ship on my list of wants and I think the fleet will be complete. But.... I do have an idea about a cool runner for moving those criminals here and there. I'll probably start working on engineering stuff after the next ship is purchased. DBX of course because everyone needs a quirky long range exploration ship right?

You say complete now... :D Once you start, you won't stop until you have them all - I'm going to do that one day!

I've given each ship the critical eye and to be honest, there isn't a single large ship I'd be interested in. Once you get past the DBX there is really nothing that does it for me. I'd maybe purchase a Keelback if my mining adventures don't pan out in this T6 but that's about it. I want a DB Scout one of these days for a specialist type ship but that's way in the future.

Yeah, good luck with that:)

Once the credits start to roll in you’ll think about including the Orca, then you’ll want to know whether all the fuss about the Beluga is true....and that’s just the Saud Kruger ships.

I’m really not a fan of the DBX, or more so the tiny fuel scoop, but I’ve still got one and use it solely to visit the Guardian sites. I’ve got a Hauler for.....well, it doesn’t really matter why beyond the fact it’s great to jump into something different every so often.

I suppose my next step with future experience within the game is whittling down those I’ve tried and just never use but that’s some way off.

Anyway, enjoy your new purchase, I really like the Dolphin.......but that just led to my love of the Orca:D;)

Thanks, yep this Dolphin is sooo nice. It's like a class above what I'm used to. I have a Hauler as well I've set up as a dedicated surface prospector so when the materials bug strikes I can just hop in that and go rock chipping. My fleet is set up so each ship has a dedicated use for what I like doing. Never been much to buy something just to have it... I kinda gotta have a need first. I read a lot about folks having a butt load of ships but they don't fly them anymore. I just can't see doing that. But, we'll see what the future holds as all my plans are written in pencil and it has a big eraser on the other end.

Trust me... once you're in a kitted out, fuel-scoop-tastic, go aywhere AspX... well. I'll let you discover that for yourself ;) Max jump on mine is now > 50lys so I use it to mosey on over to an engi then use the ship transfer to get my other ones upgraded. It's great for exploration and I also use it for planetary material gathering.

Yes, my DBX goes further (62lys) but it scoops slower and, as I mentioned on another the thread... THAT sound. Eeeuuww.

My three most recent purchases were a Krait, a Python and an iEagle. Like you though, I have cast my eye over many ships and I'm still in two minds about the large ones due to their not being able to dock on platforms - no doubt I'll be eating my words at some point!

So when you are sitting in your Python in a few weeks time I hope you will remember to have a chuckle looking back at writing that sentence.

That Python is a nice boat for sure but not really something I'd want. I'd take that over an Anaconda any day but the problem, for me, with all those do everything bigger ships is where is the struggle? I need the struggle to get something done rather than just buy a bigger better ship and do it further and faster. Yeah, it's just a game but sometimes real life carries parts into the game.. well for me anyway. My Inara account kinda explains it maybe.

I really like the looks of that quirky DBX. The AspX is interesting and I have considered one of those but... naaa, not now anyway. It all hinges on how well this T6 does with mining and that will better determine what ship is next. If it just does not cut the mustard I have a back up plan to convert it to an exploration ship but I'll still need a mining ship. The AspX looks like it could make a pretty good miner.

Lol, nice.

I just got a Python on my alt account last night.
I've been flying other stuff for a while in my main, so this was like getting into a comfy pair of old shoes.
First passenger load almost paid for the hull.

Nice addition to your fleet!

She's known to run a bit on the spicy side so keep that in mind when outfitting/engineering.

Don't be afraid of higher module costs - Dolphin is absolutely capable to earn back what it costs within a very reasonable time. And it's handling is smooth and agile compared to other ships of this size and cargo/cabin space. It's jump range is as well pretty decent for a 4A FSD.

How about this outfit?
