Just in time? Who else?

It's kind of interesting going from having nothing to spend my "excessive" credits on to "space poor" in a single update when looking at carriers.

you're only poor in this game if your costs exceed your income. Considering how easy income is to acquire...you'd have to have some pretty unusual costs (doing strictly donation missions everywhere you go and dying all the time). If that's not the case then in a couple hours you will have enough credits to buy the most expensive ship in the game again, and a couple hours after that, all of the upgrades you could want to it. That's without ltd mining.

wealth loses any practical meaning in the game as soon as you have what you want ...since the only ongoing cost will be FC's and they've nerfed that into meaninglessness already. you only die when you want to and pretty much anything else you can think of doing in the game is going to give you a net profit unless you go out of your way to lose money.

In my case my costs may well exceed my income for a time because my focus on credits only kicks in when my Balance gets too low. Also, casually doing CZs doesn't really net me a cutter's worth of credits in a couple hours. And certainly not my cutters fittings in that same time. But yeah, I mean poor only in FC terms which I'm not in a rush for. It's just interesting the scale shift in cost and there being nothing in between that I find interesting.

well for elite, the economy in the future pays people the most credits for doing the safest and simplest activities, and they pay less the more complex the activity is.

it's called anticapitalism. Pretty sure the AI's thought of it before they were abandoned and outlawed...as a precursor to enslavement of all humankind. That's why the system has supply and demand, but no consequence for not meeting demand... the economy is totally artificial and we've been following it blindly for generations even though the ai's are all gone. the computers tell us something is in demand or not and we respond ...no human ever really investigates why the computer says those things. Then we get rewarded inversely to the amount of effort/risk needed to do the job to placate us and deter any activities that would improve any kind of survival skills.

Finally a lore reason that explains not only the absurd game balance but also the reason why the game economy doesn't impact anything players need.

Yep, unlike the first beta, I'm ready with enough cr in my main account to not have to sell all my ships!

On the first beta, I had to sell every ship except one and was still flat broke after buying the base carrier. Then I had to spend a load of time doing painful money transfers from my alt PC account!

In addition my 5.5 ish billion in the first account, this time I have roughly 8 billion cr on hand in my other three accounts, two of which are console accounts. I'll be able to test almost anything across all platforms.
4 ED accounts! Sheesh! That must have been painful doing the unlock for the engineers so many times!
