Just ordered the tobii eyex

let me warn you all guys:

THEY DO NOT WORK WITH ASMedia USB 3.0 ports
I had to buy a PCIE port and in fact i am still waiting for it.

I have an old Asus p67pro mobo, how do I check what USB 3.0 controllers I have? In device manager it says the controllers are Renesas?

Ordered regardless 😀👍

Very interesting gadget and I'm really tempted to get one. The Asmedia driver issue will probably be solved soon™. Worst cas ewould that I'd have to get a PCI Usb 3.0 card.
What really bugs me is the max. 27'' monitor size since I play on a 34'' 21:9 monitor. It' the same height as a 27'' but ~30% wider.

Did anyone get Eyex running with one of these? Or is there any word from Tobii about the max screen size?

Renesas is find it's the usb chipset addon card I bought to replace the asmedia usb chipset on my mobo.

I'm using mine with a 42" screen that on my desk.

Thanks fo the respone! ;)
What resolution does your screen have? Mine has 3440x1440 px, maybe high resoutions are an issue.

Looks very smooth. I've contacted Tobii support about screen size and if there is any news on the Asmedia drivers.
Thanks again!

Was really impressed that this kind of equipment already is on the market for this cheap, so went ahead on their website to buy one.

Turned out they only want Paypal. Sorry, no thanks then.

Still would buy if there was another way of paying it...

*patiently waiting for mine to arrive*

Does this thing co-operate well with the buggy?

Like in turret mode will the viewport shift?

The Steelseries Sentry is the same thing, re-badged

No discount on that though - although there are some on ebay cheaper (although I guess that has the same Paypal issue for you that Tobii direct does)

It doesn't with head-tracking so I doubt if it will with eye tracking either.

It's not too surprising, since they map head/eye movements to in-game movements, with acceleration and limits (your in-game character can't look directly behind him/her since the seat would block it and his/her body wouldn't allow it anyhow). But the turret has no such limits - it can pan 720 or 1080 degrees etc. So unless you are a character from the Exorcist, it starts to become problematic!

That's the same device? Interesting - here the Sentry without any discount costs €90 more, even with cheaper shipping (9 euros for the Sentry from Ireland, vs 20 euros for the EyeX via offer above). That's a huge saving for the same device.

I have the same size/resolution, I just ordered one. I guess the main problem for big screens is the distance between the sensors and your eyes. But nothing you can fix imho, at the very least moving the monitor 10cm towards you or if you're creative building a "stand" for the sensors in front of your monitor.

btw.: very clever tactic from their marketing, without Obsidians Video I wouldn't consider buying this, he also practically forced me to buy a 21:9 just for this game, and I love it :D

According to this latest forum post it's still not fixed
http://developer.tobii.com/community/forums/topic/status-of-asmedia-support-for-eyex/#post-4187

But this post sounds af if the main problem lies within the default Windows driver for the ASMedia Chip. He installed dedicated drivers for it and it worked for him

I'll still order a USB 3.0 card from Amazon a few days before the eyeX arrives, and if the method above works i just send the card back

For asmedia chipsets. there was never a fix for display or video recording devices for over 4 years. kenect 360, kenect xbox one, ouclus, display port, and tobii eyex are device that don't work with asmedaiso far as I know of.

Is it possible to use mouse+keyboard for controlling the game with tobii eyex?
yes you can use mouse+keyboard with tobii eyex.

I have an ASUS Z87 Sabertooth mainboard. It seems to have Asmedia and Intel USB 3.0 so this should work fine.
Sounds good. Could you please post your feedback when or if you get it to work?

Another question regarding the left/right UI panels:
With headtracking I can move my head and make these panels pop-up. How does this work with the eyetracker? If I look left/right the panels would pop up, but then are centered, so I look and the center of the screen. Will it lose focus and return to center view immediately or will it stay there and only leave when I look elsewhere?

Mr Ant must be making loads of money on referrals as the Tobii site now says a 4 week lead time due to demand! Glad I got my order in at the three week warning :)

Ordered mine on jan 26. It is on my desk at home waiting for me today . Three weeks turned into 6 days , my boss doesn't agree that I need to leave work early to test it out .
