JWE 2

Completed the Return to JP. I like the fan service. I like the additions of adding more into single buildings. I think they could have made that more of a research item to make them better in a different way but it works. Didn't like the staff thing for restrooms as they aren't stores or restaurants. I think an R&D that would have enlarged them permanently would have been better. That way could use original bathroom prop and see then increase with the new bathroom. Also that it wouldn't have a constant cost. The damaged vehicles were handled very well. I also like being able to switch ammo and how the ranger stationed worked. A shame they haven't brought in improvements for JW buildings and operations like it. I like the aviary addition though I would like to see better improvements to it. I really liked the fan service of skins and remodels. Adding a bit of variation with how they look. I liked the T-Rex and raptors fight. I really would want this all to be expanded on in the possible sequel if not in JWE. What do you all think?

It's the same engine, but Planet Zoo is a PC exclusive.
It’s an upgraded version of it, yeah. I’m saying that the version of it used for JWE is severely lacking, both in scope and features. Comparing it to PZ makes it all the more blatant. Concerning it’s (PZ) exclusivity to PC, the minimum requirements are above the consoles, so it’s clear that PZ won’t be able to be ported to current gen consoles, not without unspecified drawbacks.

Well, Planet Coaster, which was in the same line as Planet Zoo, is currently being ported over to consoles (Xbox One and PlayStation 4). So, Planet Zoo might do the same thing at a much later point in time.

Yeah, probably to next gen consoles. Coaster’s minimum requirements were below what current gen can handle, so it was a matter of time.

Here’s what I’d like from the sequel:

• No dinosaurs/guests clipping through each other. It’s one of the worst immersion killers.
• A map generator, ala JPOG.
• Bigger, more varied map biomes, keeping with the likely theme of the JW3 tie-in.
• Actual guests/guest management, each with wants/needs. A favorite dinosaur, maybe protesters come in if you have poor park management/perceived dinosaur mistreatment.
• Staff management/needs.
• Harsher penalties for guest deaths.
• Much more dynamic and varied animations. At play, at rest, hunting, combat, dominance displays, socializing, escaping, etc. For each creature. I am fine with fewer dinosaurs at launch if this can be done.
• Linked with above, much better intelligence. Herds protecting likely hunting targets, some herd sentries. Pack hunting, interference runs, distraction tactics. Making use of terrain while hunting, namely ambushes from forests and tall grass, among other places. Cannibalism among noted species (Ex. Majungasaurus, Tyrannosaurus). Testing enclosure weak spots, or similarly attempting to find other ways out. Dodging/evasive maneuvers. I’m sure there’s tons more I’m not thinking of.
• Introduce an active disease & aging system, which when linked with the above, gives carnivores more viable prey options to select from while hunting. Also as a bonus, a dynamic scarring system.
• Meaningful genetics system. Certain genetics introduce disease resistance or immunity, others may lessen the need for food or water. Others may introduce more active effects, such as behavior (re: AI) changes. Still others may give new abilities. Examples: Komodo gene may give a septic bite, shark gene may give the ability to detect electrical impulses. Etc, etc.
• Related, let the Indominus/Indoraptor use what they have. Maybe the Rex/Raptor removed its implant, so you can’t see them on the map screen. Perhaps the camouflage makes the Indominus harder to see on nearby cameras, or the ACU team can’t find it. Let the Indominus become a Velociraptor Alpha and cause more havoc. Etc.
• Aerial/marine reptiles. If they escape, pterosaurs might capture/kill guests or smaller dinosaurs. Or alternatively, get eaten themselves. Marine animals might beach themselves and have to be returned to their paddock before they die, or if they are close to a natural body of water upon escape, make way to the ocean. At that point, you have to race to capture it. Ambush behavior with guests/animals either near/in/above the water would be nice to see, if they are too hungry.
• Terrain tools more akin to Plant Coaster/Zoo. PLEASE.
• A more dynamic destruction engine for buildings, enclosure walls/gates, vehicles, and perhaps to a more limited extent, terrain.
• Many more decoration options.
• More security options. ACU ground teams, enclosure cameras, sub-dermal shockers that trigger beyond established boundaries, beacons that produce high frequency sound, etc.
• Option for lethal force on escaped assets.
• Ability to designate certain areas as staff/VIP (re: rich) only.
• Ability to set themes. Park, Research/Training Facility, etc. and have your guests reflect that decision.

Lastly, two options which I’m not sure Frontier/Universal would approve.

• Breeding. Babies would grow into juvenile, adult, and elder stages. Throughout this time, they would be targeted by different predators, change their behavior, and whatever else you could think of. Preferably they’d transition into different stages when the camera isn’t focused on them, but who knows.
• Modding support. Let us edit/change game textures, game models, AI, and maybe share each other’s parks, if nothing else.

That’s all I can think of.

EDIT: Oh, and JP assets from the start, also.

One key thing I just realized would be really good to see: predator v. predator interaction. Not simply fighting between similarly sized carnivores, but more interesting behaviors, like bullying and threatening. Ex. Tyrannosaurus and a pack of Velociraptor. In Park we saw raptors fighting a Rex, but realistically that wouldn’t happen unless true desperation came into play, and they see the risk as worth the potential reward. Predators IRL have to do cost-benefit analysis all the time, either instinctively or rationally. (Is it worth attacking that bull water buffalo, even with the other lionesses? Should I, as a leopard, fight the lion over this carcass? Etc). Larger predators in the game should be able to scare smaller ones away and steal food and other resources from them. Unless they’re desperate for food and water, smaller carnivores shouldn’t challenge the steal. If that time comes, a desperate fight to the death ensues.

Are you guys sure there will be a sequel when the third JW film was released? If so, can Frontier make the dig sites more authentic?

It's not officially confirmed but it makes a lot of sense as I've stated before. JW3 coming 2021, new gaming consoles release holiday 2020, game engine improvements being made as PZ shows. I believe Universal would want to the best promotion and support for their franchise. Best way to do it. Would be to have a JWE2 that has all of these things going on around the same time. Especially after learning so much from the foundation of JWE and PZ. I'm also hopeful they implement many changes that would further improve the game and the additions that would be able to come into the game.

What if it would not be the case? Then what?

Giving more thought as I have been playing JWE. I don't like the AI for the rangers as vehicles can be damaged and destroyed. I find I have to micromanage my park in driving the jeeps to do what needs to be done and then leave them outside near the station so that they don't get destroyed. Almost every single time I have AI do it. They always get damaged and more than likely get destroyed if I don't take over. Then I even tried going through the carnivores to restock them. Left the jeep on the opposite side. Does the jeep go around the wall in safety to the station? No, it goes through the same area with the risk of being destroyed. I also tried the flares. I have to say, that's a joke. The animals could careless about the flares.

I like that the Rangers and ACU have medication and tranq darts. I'm still wondering why my raptors are able to break through electric concrete walls.

I can see raptors climbing regular barred fences and such but not concrete. They wouldn't be able to bust through it. As I said, things should progress further while you play to make management easier on you as a player. The beginning should have the challenges since having to do R&D and getting enough money to establish it all. I still don't like that restrooms suck out money. I don't think there is enough to rate up my animals. For example: I want a 5 star Triceratops, one that has a rating over 100. It's a favorite.

I'm still aching for more drama, terrifying scenes and serene cinematic scenes. Hoping for so much in the possible JWE2.

That would suck, but I doubt they would drop JWE unless if Universal wanted another development team to take over. More than likely that there will be a sequel as they did well in the market and they are obligated under contract with Universal to continue to use the property otherwise, they would be wasting money on something they won't utilize or continue. That would be very poor management and marketing. Reason would state that there is one in the works.
