Parks Kaleidoscope Piers

I have some ideas for your next ride. A Bill Tracy-type ride using the Hoax ride. Maybe a two floor Whacky Shack like Waldameer or like the ones in Texas.

Awww...you remember! Those were the good old days, huh? Speaking of good old days...

The Old Mill at Kaleidoscope Piers!

Having recently celebrated its 125th anniversary, The Old Mill is one of the only two remaining rides on the piers from before the turn of the century (1900, that is, for you young folks)...the other being the Leap-the Whees side friction coaster. The Old Mill has undergone a few changes over the years, most significantly being its major upgrade in the 1990s during which the ride was closed for 8 months while the trough was completely refinished, the drop was fit with modern safety features, and all new boats were added. But...the ride maintains its classic "tunnel of love" vibe. I hope you enjoy the ride...and don't forget to steal a kiss (or two) with your sweetie in those dark, meandering tunnels. [wink]

This pier park has a Wildwood, NJ vibe to it. I like the old mill ride but I would have preferred a horror theme over a love theme. It's more Valentine than Halloween. My local park Dorney Park had a mill chute ride through 1992 called Journey to the Center of the Earth, it had scenes behind glass inside the cave tunnel. It had a lift and drop at the end. New owner Cedar Fair removed it off season 1992-1993 because they claimed it was too old and it was leaking, etc. plus it wouldn't handle higher crowds they claimed due to its low capacity and probably it would be vandalized by now with the rough NY/NJ crowd they get now. It was rethemed by Bill Tracy in 1960, built 1929. For 1993 Dorney Park built a big splash flume called White Water Landing with a roof over the turn on the top in a figure 8 layout. They also have a 1982 log flume Thunder Creek Mountain and Thunder Canyon, a rapids built in 1994.

When will this park be available on the Steam Workshop? Great work

Well... I'm hoping we get some sort of Spring DLC or update so it'll be after that. (I'm holding out for chairlifts!) plus I still have to build the town across the street from the park.

Thank you for the update Fisherman. Your pier reminds of the pier in Wildwood NJ. I hope we get a Spring update and chairlift as well.

Great park! Thanks for sharing this with us.

It looks like you had an awesome time creating this park :D

What area is this set in? Judging by the palm trees in the street, I’d say Florida. I love beach themed parks especially pier parks. I grew up going to Wildwood, NJ a few times in the early 1980’s. They had a lot more themed and haunted rides then. Two jerks who skipped school burned down Castle Dracula on Jan 16, 2002 after they broke in and lit lighters to see and ran out when something caught fire. They were arrested down the street but got no jail time. It was built 1976-1977 over the 1919 Old Mill boat ride which became Dungeon. The pier was Playland, then Marine West and became Nickels Midway Pier by 1978 or so but was bought by the Nickels brothers in 1976. It became a water park in 2000 called Splash Zone and was leased to Andy Weiner, now he owns it after a long court battle with the Nickels. But, in 2010 Morey’s Piers opened a huge Ghost Ship walk through haunted attraction.

Good question...it is set in a mythical place on the coast on Planet Coaster. Ha ha. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west, unless you look at the weather vane...which is backwards. I don't know...the piers stick out toward the south so I'm thinking Florida pan handle...since the water isn't brown...otherwise it would be Galveston by where I live. [big grin]

Someone made that pier park in Texas, isn’t it called Pleasure Pier? Isn’t there a wood coaster and mini train ride at Kemah as well? I have an uncle in Houston. Six Flags Astroworld was there and it was leveled, but Six Flags has two other parks in Texas, one of them is the very first Six Flags park that opened in 1961. The other opened in early 90’s in a former quarry. They both have steam train rides. I like train rides, especially steam trains. My state PA has one of the longest running steam tourist railroads, Strasburg and we have a bunch of other steam and diesel tourist trains. Texas has the 25 mile Texas State Railroad with steam, and Grapevine with its steam engine back, Austin Steam Train (diesel right now steam engine being rebuilt) and others. Tennessee has a nice steam and diesel tourist railroad in Chattanooga, from 6 to 102 mile round trips with 2 operating steam locomotives and diesels. They have more steam locomotives one used to operate but none of those are working right now. Some are just display pieces.

I am starting my own pier project using the Lost Expedition park and building off of it. Some of Fish’s blueprints will be in my park like the space ride, Bats in the Belfry and I figured a way to save separate parts of the Midnight Manor ride so that I can move it to this park. I made my own entrance by kitbashing a Worlds of Fun back gate entrance from the workshop. Looks similar to Fisherman’s entrance but a little different. I’m not copying his park verbatim but mine will have some different rides in it.

Was wondering when will this park be uploaded to the workshop? I love the the scenery and detail put into this park. Very well done.

Thank you! I still have lots to do...and I want to wait and see if we get a good DLC pack this summer. But I do plan to upload it when It's done.

In the mean time, enjoy some new screenshots!

And the whole shebang so far (nevermind the staging and testing area in the grass on the lower right...that will be family fun centers, waterparks, trouist traps, motels, city streets, etc. Oh and the random squares of path hovering over the water are path grid grabbing spots, since my pier is covered with wooden flat roof tiles and my entire pier path system is on a single grid.):

You ❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎ better. There are so many things I want to steal draw inspiration from in here ;)

Until now, I had no idea you'd put the humble Galaxi directly across from your bigtime Lost Expedition. Geez, I'm sure the residents of Lost Expedition are even now suing you over violations of zoning ordinances, neighborhood covenants, and the creation of a nuisance :D

Ha ha ha!!! You crack me up! [haha]

The lights look so pretty and colorful at night. What are your plans for the two empty rectangles on the middle pier and between the left and the middle pier? Any more dark rides left to build? I wouldn’t mind having an unfinished version to mess around with until your ready to release the complete park. This guy Leo made some classic style Bill Tracy dark rides complete with fluorescent colors inside on mine shafts, etc.
