Engineers Kamitra Cigars

Another mechanic built to waste our time with no real return.

Can they even DO anything else?

Do anything else? Such as?

Rare goods grind is a disgusting abuse of the players. There is absolutely no other possible description of it.

Wow harsh words. I'm guessing you've lived your entire life next to your pc but haven't ever managed to check out the news... at any point?

Seriously, if you feel inclined to use the words 'disgusting abuse' to explain your hobby, you've got issues.

If you're just being another youtube type person. Try using words that actually describe issues, rather than being an abuse victim of injustice in all the wrong places. At least go to the doctor and get yourself checked out mate lol

sry but the hobby is playing video games and havign fun, when devs implement pointless tasks those words aren't too wrong to descripe it at all.

IDK Evolution, it would seem to me that was the original question, so why did you bother re-asking it using different words?
And getting hung up on the words being used to describe not the hobby, but how something has been implemented doesn't change anything other than showing us you don't care for what the content of what's said or done is at all, just how it's presented.
The door out of this discussion is over there mate; lol

Sorry for the confusion mate. I just was asking what you'd like them to do?

Again, sorry for the confusion. I'm almost triple elite plus hero in CQC, fully ranked in fed and emp, nearly all permits, plus all 20 engineers at 5*. I've played for 2700 hours and turned my old dining room into a space cockpit for Elite Dangerous. One side project is collecting Uhd screenshots and I'm up to 1700 so far. I really do care about the content so I try to offer suggestions for improvements rather than barriers, if you know what I mean?

Yeah I was bothered about the words, purely for the amount of rubbish in this world that is disgusting abuse. From my experience, Elite could never fall into that category. Just being honest.

Fly safe

The Kamitra Cigars mission requires that you make several 157 LY trips shuttling 50 units of a cargo that is only ever distributed in 8-unit sets, and this, it should be noted, is after you've already done a rep-grind for the Empire to get to Outsider status, and a rep-grind for Eurybia Blue Mafia, and a mission in which you ferry 200 landmines to another engineer, and done enough engineering jobs with said engineer to get Hera Tani's invitation. This fetch quest involves no content in and of itself that couldn't be obtained elsewhere and with more profit opportunities to boot. There is, in short, no enjoyment that could possibly be obtained from this mission that couldn't more profitably be obtained somewhere else - it is a waste of time. There is no possible way that FDev could not have known that forcing us to undergo such a chore would not be seen as an onerous waste of our time. Therefore the only possible conclusion is that they did it on purpose.

Purposefully wasting someone's time for no reason? That's abuse.

Elite HAS fallen into disgusting abuse of our time. Intentionally wasting players time is NEVER ok. And REQUIRING 50 of an item they intentionally spawn so few of, AND limiting the amount you can carry at one time...That is, BY DEFINITION, wasting our time.

It's an arbitrary limit placed for no logical reason just to make something take longer. This sort of bottom of the barrel design garbage is the domain of abusive free to play addiction schemes. It has no place here, and the developer should be disgraced by mechanics like this having entered into a game as promising as this one.

Very well said. I agree completely. I keep hoping this he will get better. But I've basically moved on. Finding NMS much more rewarding as a pure explorer.

The Unknown Fragments mission is even more psychologically abusive, given that it relies entirely on random spawns. This is not acceptable behaviour from a video games development studio, nor is defending it.

I know what you're saying about it being a big time investment as I'd done those; plus have finally just finished unlocking the 26 permits. I can say, the efforts made the sense of accomplishment that much higher. All I'm saying is I personally feel pleased, a far cry from abused. GL and keep ploughing on with the missions and you'll get there.

P.s apologies for the large image. It's from 2 UHD screenshots in my Cutter

Doing this thing right now...pfffffffff [mad]...I could only get 15 on the first time. Bought 8 waited ten minutes and gave me 7 more...waited like 20 minutes hoping to see more and nothing. Better head there now...

Not sure how Frontier thinks that this can be a fun way to play their game. This is beyond silly. Random materials, random upgrades, play for hundreds of hours to get this and that, go get me this and then when you are there THEY IMPLEMENT A CAP LIMIT so you have to do it more than once as it happens with this now.

I'm not sure about you guys...no one is forcing us to play like this, that's for sure...but come on, this shouldn't be like this. It feels like an actual torture.

Edit: So now I went back there and guess what...8 and 7...so I have to do one trip more and then come back for 5 tonnes of that s...amazing torture. My father likes to see me play this game and was telling him how this work and he "facepalmed" so hard and told me "I wouldn't do this at all if I were you", then he went off my room. (yeah he won't be here watching me wait for ten minutes for the market to reboot...great gameplay elements yes sir!)

That's the problem with rare goods. It appears that the limit for the cigars is now 15 units. You will never get more than that if you have any in your hold. But if you go when the controlling faction is in Boom, you can get a bonus of more rare goods.

I think the worst thing with rare goods is pathetic allocation spawns, combined with zero feedback on the commodities screen as to whether you have reached the limit. this is why you ended up wasting 20 minutes waiting.

It might count as gameplay to have to make 3-4 round trips to unlock an engineer, fair enough. But you are also having to wait 10 minutes to get the second allocation. I think this delay adds nothing whatsoever to the game except frustration.

Yeah, the main problem with the game is that you have to try and see what happens all the time (I play the game since release when things were never as "easy" as of now)...but the worse thing is that you have to check in a forum OUTSIDE of the game to see what is really happening. The lack of actual information is the same thing that happens when you upgrade a component...instead of for example telling you how the new FSD will perform "from 20 to 25Ly improvement, 10% more fuel consumption", you see some percentages of technical stuff that you don't care a thing about.

And yeah I'm again here checking the forum because I'm waiting those 10 minutes to get those 7 tons so I can get 15 in total...to make my 3rd trip so then I can come back to get 5 more tonnes and finish this madness...

Is not a great idea to have these kind of "barriers" (also called time gates) having in mind that you played for hundreds of hours before to unlock other engineers, gather materials of all kinds around the galaxy, travelling a lot all around, ranking up...etc. These minor things shouldn't be this tedious to do.

After the unlock, additional delivery of cigars will give You a big push in reputation. Verified.

Finally did it guys...now doing some tries up to "grade 3" and then move to the next one so I can upgrade my lasers...It took me almost all day to unlock 2 engineers (one up to level 5 because I had enough materials), at least I did something and once it is done you can forget about it.
Tomorrow I'll do Broo Tarquin because I want to upgrade my lasers (already did that with the missiles today, I fly an A rated Python by the way...purely for PvE, trading missions and casual combat). I see that he needs 50 tonnes of Fujin Tea...oh god not again. :x

Then I'll do The Dweller (just have to go and pay 500.000cr) and then Lei Cheung by paying gold (access is not a problem for these 2...but I'll probably need materials again before accessing Lei Cheung).

And finally probably next week...the hard and tedious way up to Palin. But that 5000Ly trip will help me to finally reach Elite in exploration. (close to Elite in all 3 naval ranks)

PS: I bought the extra stuff and sold it there. Gained just about 1% reputation. (22% Duke in Empire)

Why Your post in that link is not the sticky one??? It will make positive influence on FD profit!

And I was trying tobacco, wine, beer on that beach...
