My reasons for the nay saying are simple and very selfish....I haven't got enough room on my desk for another keyboard [squeeeee]
I'm also at the other end of the spectrum here being ...in the main... a PC player...in that I won't play many of the current games that don't have support for the Xbox controller. Besides ARMA 3 which simply requires KB/Mouse input due to it's complexity and the likes of the flight sims I play requiring a decent HOTAS, I'm not a great user of KB/M for gaming. For E-D, I have no keyboard controls at all...between Voice Attack, the HOTAS and mouse control in station menus, outfitting and the gal/system maps; I don't touch the keyboard at all.
Having the option of some keyboard controls in E-D on the Xbox is a fine thing...as a PC E-D player, I'd be more interested in FDev programming in a multiple fire button option rather than the artificially imposed 2 button limit so I didn't have to muck around with firegroups on a HOTAS with 5 primary fire buttons.
Playing on my Xbox is no different from playing on my PC...since they're both attached to each other. For example...I play Assassin's Creed Odyssey on PC using my Xbox Elite controller then press a button on the HDMi switcher, resync the Elite controller to the Xbox, put on my Turtle Beach Stealths instead of the Hyper X cloud 2's and play RDR2 on the same bottom monitor sat in the same chair.
Seamless cross platform gaming and none of this faffing about with keyboards
