Keyboard support support arrives 14th November. Will FDev support it?

PC costs aren't that bad. Yeah, the entry is higher, but if you buy good parts then you'll only need to upgrade the GPU mid-life.

By the time it's time to build a new system, the console users will be presented with a new system to buy anyway.

Here's the thing though... You can still use your older PC hardware for as long as you like. Console users HAVE to buy the new system to play the lateset games. PC users don't. If it works then why upgrade? That's why I'm still using my GTX 960 4GB. Only ever considered a budget card but it still offers slightly-better-than-console performance.

People who complain about endless upgrades for PC "every six months" are the ones buying trash parts that are already totally obselete. My system is not that, hence I enjoy ED so much on PC even after four years of running the same system.

So much for upgrades "every six months"... Only upgrades I've made were cosmetic. An overkill CPU cooler and a fancy case, plus a network card for high quality WiFi.

PC is an acronym for "PERSONAL COMPURTER". Though one can be utilized by anyone in one's house hold, it's generally never is. If and when one needs to be upgraded, one has to have considerable amount of knowledge as to exactly what needs to be upgraded. I'd veture to say, that most wouldn't have the slightest idea as to what componets they have to upgrade and which items are better than other's. Consoles were designed to be utilized by one's entire family, though everyone can have their own device, if they are the same, one only needs one account, which can be shared by everyone in the house hold.

If and when it can no longer play the most newest and most current games available. One simply buy a new one and plugs it in. Unlike a PC, no knowledged of how to get and install new driver's and such is required and no tools needed.

Rather than allowing a console to utilize KB's and Mice, allowing a third party mod or program or what ever it is called such as "VOICE ATTACK" which would eliminate the use of either hand for most game play thus a better option.

I think the Kinect has more than proven adding “voice attack” to consoles isn’t the right approach.
More important, Xbox doesn’t provide a way for developers to incorporate a headset voice command into the game. It was made possible only through a Kinect.
Also xbox doesn’t allow third party apps to work with an Xbox game in ways that have proven not to be cumbersome and problematic.

The only solution is for this developers to look a meaningful ways to minimize unnecessary keybinds in order to free up buttons.
As an example:

-Scanners
-Mining
-cargo in space and on the ground
-landing gear
-firepoint cycling
-scanner to combat mode swap
-free look
-camera binds

There are so many PC focused binds that are fine as optional assignments but in many cases are cumbersome and unnecessary if you consider many of the binds and actions only work in a given scenario so the game code should change to create meaningful interactions vs manual

vouce attack only makes practical sense for PC because people are in VR so it becomes necessary and almost a requirement.

There's a helpful link if you find taking out a GPU hard.

I'm gonna' be blunt. PC is easy. They're totally modular.

And if you still find it a little intimidating, which I respect, there are dozens of well established YouTube channels, housed entirely by professionals, teaching you how to build at home for absolutely no charge beyond advert revenue.

There is also plenty of online forums where you can ask as many questions as you like, and you will not be ridiculed.

Please, it's almost 2019.

You can learn to build a PC with your phone.

It's not as hard as whatever your post is implying.

BTW...

You clearly have no idea how Voice Attack works.

VA requires a keyboard. I know this because I actually use it.

Please educate yourself before making nonsensical "suggestions".

Also, you can always buy a prebuild, it'll cost you a little more but good brands don't charge that much of a premium.

So Xbox is adding official keyboard support on the 14th of November (next week).
Is FDev finally adding support for it on the game? (I say finally, because it was already possible to do so, as Project Cars 2 has showed for over a year).

Xbox One mouse and keyboard support arrives November 14th

Did not read al lthe replies so sorry if this is already mentioned.

In the article it states that some games supporting this will wil only match you with other players having this same setup, that is a problem that will further hamper multi-plaform from coming to Elite.
If ED does implement this I hope it is something that will facilitate multi-platform not hinder it.

For once, you can buy prebuilts if you are lazy and don't want to learn about PC's, also, a computer doesn't need to upgrade until you think it's too outdated (totally up to you and your requierments) or when X program you wish to install needs additional specs although if you get a good PC you should be able to use it for at least 5 years before any of the two happen though OFC that'll depend on how good of a PC you get. For example, I'm writing from my laptop worth $1500 roughly speaking, I bought it 3 years ago and so far the only "maintenance" I had to do was to disconnect and connect my battery due to some booting issues, other than that I have changed my HDD for a SSD and no program I have cannot run on it rather smoothly.

At last, you should know that consoles aren't immune to malfunctions, they are still electronics and will fail eventually, a good example of this was the ring of death in the XboX 360 but the key difference is that you cannot buy spare parts for your console to fix it since they are proprietary hardware, not the case with PC's.

If and when it can no longer play the most newest and most current games available. One simply buy a new one and plugs it in. Unlike a PC, no knowledged of how to get and install new driver's and such is required and no tools needed.

In my experience you don't need to install new drivers to play games on a PC, most of the times they come preinstalled with the relevant hardware plus they can automatically update or they'll let you know they need to be updated which can often be done with a single click, this is not rocket science bro.

A whole lot of misunderstanding of almost everything concerning PC's, not least the imagined complexity of building or maintaining one....as much as a good many folks buy pre-builds or laptops these days.

A simple rule of thumb is that anyone who has worked out how to connect an external drive to a USB slot can build a home PC from scratch....it's hardly like building a Hadron Collider. ;)

Almost the entire suite of software installed on any PC is self updating, you know...like the stuff that pops up on the Xbox that tells you it's updating every now and then? Software installation is exactly the same process as on the Xbox, perhaps with less disks involved...hardware is plug and play as it is on the Xbox.

TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS!!!

That's how much you'll be paying for the Razer Turret Xbox One.

This is both sad and hilarious.

What makes this funnier is that the original Razer Turret was a complete failure.

yeah...I’m pretty sure this isn’t going to go over well.
Accessories costing nearly as much as the Xbox one s (sale price) to be used in less than 2% of the game library is a bad step for Xbox.

Im going to be mad if people buy that over upgrading to an Xbox one x...just my observation on stuff in the Xbox one world of weirdness.

WTH is a Razer turret...fancy mouse or something?

Edit: Just had a look...boy, that is some cheap and nasty looking kit..and 250 bucks?

Didn't I call it months ago that Microsoft would slap a speshul price tag on it? My serious advice to anyone feeling the need to open their wallets to own this ridiculous piece of yuppy plastic....I'd wait and get hold of a decent Logitech gaming keyboard and mouse for less than a third of that price once the novelty of KB/M wears thin... Jeez...I could buy a 2TB M2 SSD or 32Gb of DDR4 RAM for that price...

My X56 HOTAS, Logitech gaming Keyboard and 18 button 16400DPi gaming mouse cost a smidgin less than 250 quid all together...and they are quality bits of kit. I mean, does this Razer turret nonsense come with a smartphone docking port and a full suite of multimedia and gaming macro keys...?

My £85 Logitech gaming keyboard does [rolleyes]

Even one of the top rated Logitech gaming Keyboards plus a 16400DPi, 7 button gaming mouse is nearly £100 cheaper than that Razer/Microsoft rubbish with the only unique function of the whole thing being the windows key has been removed and a big Xbox button slapped in it's place...and you lot think a gaming rig is expensive

£250...that's almost as criminal as charging £75-£95 for a 10 year old design, £29.99 Thrustmaster T-flight HOTAS with a new and shiny Xbox button painted on it...

Logitech G-920 gaming keyboard on Amazon

It's up to the devs to segregate the community. Since HOTAS and Gameplay play together already, I don't really see the issue.

What games support voice commands on Xbox?
Last few F1 games have it. One of the Tomb Raider had it. But with kinect being phased out, support is dying.

So normal over priced PC addon maker product does it again...

So with it being a TKL build not only does it cost way to much, they even give you LESS key switches for your money and still use older 2.4 ghz gen wireless...

Instead of moving up to 5Ghz to avoid USB 3.0 external HDD and cable interference issues with the Radio dongle add on... Thats a mistake many still make, but with the Xbox one users using External HDD storage, thats another extension cable likely needed to move the dongle away from the External HDD RF noise, thats looking like another big waste of customer supports time telling people to relocate the USB dongle as they won't read up on USB RF 2.4 ghz dongles do not like external HDD storage at all...

I think you’re misunderstanding my comment.

Voice commands for the consoles ...work on the headset like record that, Xbox on, volume up, etc.

Not to be confused with prior Kinect voice commands that only work with a kinect for specific games. There hasn’t been work done to bring thirst features to a headset function.

Kinda why some of us still have our kinects :)

Polling rate of the USB support on the Xbox line up has proven to kill USB K&M this is NORMAL for non PCs devices...
To be compatible many GAMER gimmick brands will need "PC applications" to LOWER the polling rate... of the USB devices...

Due to this you can not just by a Gamer gimmick brand unless you have an upto date Windows PC to alter the polling rate... its not been a plugin and just go update for games with K&M and if you have Mac OS only then youll have to borrow a windows PC...

So what you're saying in layman's terms is that Xbox users can only use this new Razer nonsense reliably?
