Krait Stats from the Livestream

So, Python just suffered the fate of T-9 but instead like T-9, Python isnt going to get any buffs..

Python won't ever be buffed; it was nerfed in fact, very early on. Frontier seem to be disinclined to change their stance on that. It can carry more, though. I have no problem with more options. Choice is good.

The Python has been regarded as the all-around best ship in the game for years now. The Krait has its perks, but its a lot less beefy than the Python. Its an Alternative, but certainly not a replacement.

It's basically a more combat oriented Python-lite, which is what I expected honestly. The game needs a ship to compete with the Python and the Krait will likely be a decent counterpart. Less cargo, but better in battle. Should be a smuggler or pirate's dream, except for the limiting four utility slots.

I never expected the Krait to be a great explorer or trader, but I am curious what kind of jump range it can get when modded and trimmed for low mass. The view out the window alone might make it an interesting exploration ship, as long as it can get a decent range.

If you lighten it and put a guardian FSD booster into it you could get close to 50LY or maybe even more with a SLF fitted.

It will likely become my go to exploration vessel for now on.

Definitely thinking about it too, I'm glad the Krait is less combat oriented than I expected. I'm engineering a Python for exploration right now and I'm already over 45ly max. I love it, but I always wanted a SLF and don't like the big three (four?) that much.

With those stats I don't see it as a pure combat ship like the Chieftain at all.
Imho the Krait will turn out to be a very much used multipurpose ship.
It's got a bit less cargo space then the Python, is a bit faster and can carry an SLF as option, oh and it can land at outposts.
I'm realy liking these stats and I'm not a combat pilot.

I agree.
It obviously is a medium multi role ship.
It was even advertised as such in the livestream.
It offers a bit of competition in the area where the Python ruled alone, but still has its own strengths and weaknesses.

I think it is a great addition to the game.
Finally people get another medium SLF capable ship, that packs a punch too.
I feel this is the only spot where a ship, that is the successor to the old Krait, could have been made to fit.
FDev hit the nail on the head with this one.

Stats-wise I agree with you, now I want to know how the ship flies and how the heat management is.

But so far I think I will like it more then the Chief or the FGS/FAS.

I didn't buy T-10 or Chieftain and will not buy Challenger but will definitely buy this Krait when it's released.

Wikia has classed it as a Combat Multipurpose ship. Apart from one less C6 internal slot, lower armor and shields compared to Python, Krait is faster, more maneuverable, jumps further and can hold a fighter hanger.

I reckon majority of players like myself have been waiting for a new multipurpose ship like Krait [yesnod]

I am in the same boat. I have no love for the big three. I am glad I have already signed up for DW2 with the krait.

So, the Python was considered too strong and instead of nerfing it, FDEV created the Krait Mk II.
Should we expect a ship in the coming months that rivals the Anaconda? I'm up for it, at least to have some diversity.

It feels like smuggler / black ops ship and I love that sentiment. It certainly has 'Millenium Falcon' feel, with visible medium hard points. It is also multi role and feels like proper progression from Cobra.

Hmmmm, Can it beat 12 parsecs for the Kessler run?? ;) ;)

I was talking PvP of course!

Python head to head with the krait - better shields/armor vs more firepower due to the SLF will be fun to do some dueling! If you have an FDL also happy to do som eduleling vs my Python ;)

While the Krait has lower base hull integrity, OP doesn't mention shield stats, so it might very well have the better shields of the two. (I hate how that is always omitted when stats of new ships are posted; you need to know the capacity of an unmodded A-rated shield generator of the maximum supported size in order to be able to compare the shields of ships.)

So basically, it's a Python that trades a class 6 optional for the ability to use a fighter bay. Meh.

It's a very nice ship, mind you. But Python still remains king of outpost mission running.

Exactly my thoughts.
A nice option for any stuff in PvE but at the end definitly not a competitor to the Python. The difference between 9 or 10 internals is so damn huge in PvE, especially since it's about a class 6 one.
I will buy one and will have fun with it, but still demanding and waiting for a ship that really can keep up with the Python

1 + point......it's Falcon DeLacy :D

In terms of a PvP 1v1, in comparison to the Python, the reduced defence (on any comparable min/maxed build, Krait would have lower base shield, fewer SCB's and/or less hull hp) seems a reasonable trade-off for the Krait having higher speed and (probably) overall manoeuvrability.

The real question mark for me is over when or if Frontier will introduce some form of SLF pilot immortality (or, at least, reduced mortality). An Expert SLF is a considerable advantage in a long duel. A Deadly SLF is a massive advantage. If everyone ultimately grinds up to immortal Elite SLF's then assuming comparable PvP piloting, the Python guy wouldn't stand a chance.

We can see on the vid that Krait has 490 Mj with 6A shield and 2 x A boosters. Python would have 557 Mj. So Krait will have smaller shield unless something changed before live.

[up]

I would pay *a lot* of money for a rescue capsule for my two elite pilots, they are very much worth it. Using them in PvP would be awesome.

I think you missed something: The Python was nerfed.
Some people were really upset about it. There were big discussions on the forums at the time.
It never got to me, because I only got the Python after it was nerfed. I flew around in other ships for a long time, and was never that focused on making huge amounts of money.

Feels like I will finally be replacing the old python.

Nice thing is, I can likely just rip the old engineered modules off that baby.
