I agree. There is a complete lack of consequences for most anything... I have spent a bit of time previously in power play, mostly dealing in PvP... I am very familiar with the mechanics, or lack of mechanics in place.

I have been attacked by same faction CMDR's on several occasions... It happens. Just treat it as any PvP encounter. I never trust another CMDR... I mean, until we become friends :D and even then... lol

I kept getting tagged by some Anaconda while I was doing Undermining, he just didn't want competition for the kills by the look of it. I didn't kill him, but I mean, FSD and Life Support are right next to each other on the module list, and most people mod the integrity right out of both of those. Accidents happen, things malfunction, who knows.

If he died, I certainly wasn't to blame. I blame his addiction to oxygen.

I was killed once in a RES by a CMDR aligned to the same power... As I was typing out a "hello, want to wing/work together" type message, he boosted right on the top of my FDL in his Conda... being I already had lower shield (though it may not have mattered) I popped right there... I went back, I made him log (which I count as win) and took my petty merit fee with a smile.

But, until core mechanics of the game are re-worked, or entirely changed, this will never stop. Too easy to get away with anything in game up to and including murder.

This is why I've been in my FDL lately, people just love to worm out of the works anymore and try to ruin your day. My FDL is fitted for PvE but can still handle anything up to a 3v1, which I ended up in at that last bounty-hunting CG. Big ships are easy; you can just FA-off 180-turn-boost back and forth past them forever.

I feel bad for the folks who go around in a non-combat ship, they're not able to defend/outrun so easily. Multi-crew will definitely affect the environment, but who knows how exactly.

The problem is the utter lack of consequences for actions against other players, especially players of your Powerplay Faction.

It should be like when your not paying attention (or the wife/girlfriend is talking incessantly) and you accidentally fire on a SA ship and all the good guys suddenly turn into bad guys and ya gotta run like the fox from the hounds!

Branded a traitor and Hunted DOWN!

Right?

Like.. I was being a good Samaritan and bringing back some Synthetic Clothing to Walker City last night.

From the second I picked up that load I couldn't go to Super Cruise ONCE without an NPC interdicting me.

And FD's telling me they can't do a system like that for PK's?

c'mon...

Any ship can more or less get away from any other ship... evade/escape should be the first skill CMDR's learn/train while playing ED.

I flew a shieldless T-9 with no rebuy for awhile... Meh... Sure it was slightly more risky, but if you know what to do, and don't panic, a T-6 can run from a Cutter or whatever all day.

Attention to detail and a level head can resolve most issues of PvP without much consequence. The times I have been killed in PvP have been due to mistakes on my part, or straight stubbornness, and I would think this to be true for every CMDR. After the action I always look back at "What could I have done differently?" and there is almost always an "Oh... yeah..."

(Best one ever was when I killed a Conda INSIDE of a station in my FDL... In fairness, the Conda panic boosted into the rear of the station, and the station made short work of me, but I count it as a kill for me. Lol, that CMDR thought he was safe and I wouldn't do it... See, the Conda should not have docked after I made the threat to kill him inside the station. I TOLD him what I was going to do. He made the decision to go into a station where he couldn't run/hide. I died because I made the mistake of firing inside a station, though... I knew what was coming... I decided my rebuy was worth watching him pay his...)

I agree with the PVP aspect thats not a big issue in elite, ganking isn't that big of a problem either, but the devs seriously needs to implement a better betrayal system into powerplay,ATLEAST for powerplay.

I can withstead all the salt in the world but powerplay betrayals are the worst.

Um... probably isn't happening, at least any time soon.

Just look at crime/punishment. I mean, if there isn't a system of repercussions for just CMDR Smith rolling through the bubble, what makes you think they are going to implement a system of consequences in PP? I just do not see it happening before crime/punishment as a WHOLE is looked at... and that doesn't look like it is happening anytime soon either.

So, I will direct you to my previous points:
#1: Don't trust ANY CMDR you don't know, and the ones you do know... well, I watch some of the guys I wing with closer than others...
#2: Treat every CMDR encounter as a PvP situation. Since you are already not trusting of them, if they attack at least you were somewhat prepared...

Pretty much the only solution to the problem as the game stands... other than playing in solo, but I do not advocate that as a solution (and I do not want to get into that debate either)

I'm not much of a solo player, I'll just forget about this clusterfluck and continue to do what I do best but more cautiously

Yep. CMDR's are the biggest threat in the game and you should treat them as such. I do. The good news is, unprovoked, random attacks (in my experience) are more rare than the forums make them out to be.

Many on the forums will have you believe that you get ganked the moment you press open, it's real unfortunate. The only real dangerous places are hotspots such as CG's and popular engineers.

The issue being that these types of players take the "community" right out of "community goals".

I'd love a galactic equivalent of the old vanilla-Wow "Global Defense" chat channel.

How so? They're still part of the community. Some members of the community support a goal, and others oppose it.

com·mu·ni·ty
kəˈmyo͞onədē/
a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.

I didn't realize that would confuse you so.

An online community is a virtual community whose members interact with each other primarily via the Internet. Taken straight from wikipedia.

Gankers still interact no? Maybe it's time to get of that moral high horse and accept that gankers still participate in community goals, just in a way that offends some PVE folks such as yourself. [cool]

Griefing and gankers drive people to Solo for CGs. Thus reducing community interaction.

Eh, I'm mostly a solo player now. I'm tired of my super rare encounters with other players invariably being hostile. It's depressing. Solo seems more stable to play, too.

I still mix it up in open but to be honest open seems like a teeny bit more dangerous, less stable solo 99% of the time.

Case in point.

2.3 will improve the experience by guaranteeing you interaction with players that isn't going to be 3 ships trying to interdict you and then launching a bunch of torpedoes your way.
